The TV show Fixer Upper did a house that looked similar to yours. The episode referred to the house as the "Prickly Pear" house. Link: https://magnolia.com/our-show/episode-11-the-prickly-pear-house/ They removed the bushes and trees blocking the house (& the prickly pear cactus near the street) and created dormers & a pergola in front -where your red trees are touching the roof)-Also- they installed 2sets of French doors to the front of the house and removed wall in the kitchen.

I don't like the long shutters on the lower windows. they look odd. And the ones on the other window are too small and really shouldn't be on the triple window. I'd remove all of the shutters on the lower level. You could always remove the shutters and do window trim in the black. As for the coloring, it will look like this (and doing white siding) but this black and white looks sharp because this home has a black roof. you don't. so keep that in mind when choosing your colors porch posts, like this If you want to change the entry way area: if you're thinking about painting the brick (Romabio) it could look like this: Another painted brick and porch redo. Along with a nice walkway and flower bed This before picture will mimic the colors that you want to do to your home. The after shows what can be done if you want more of a farmhouse style and this before and after comes from another poster on here who wanted more of a modern look So, lots of options for you!

I wish I could edit my post above. In regards to the half circle window, that is being removed and new cedar siding being installed when they replace our windows next month. We will be painting the whole front of the house. It is a darker gray, but is faded. Gray being overdone is right. It’s the primary color in this housing addition and I hate it. Our vinyl siding on the sides and back are a light gray, so need to make sure whatever color we go with it looks good as we are kinda on a corner. Tree at bottom tree will be removed sadly. We did not do the landscaping and I can not figure out why they would put a tree like that there.

Zennifer I understand what you're trying to do, totally understand the location and blood/sweat/tears you've got in the current home. But prepare to be shocked. My guess is financially you'd still be better off moving. I wouldn't attempt an addition onto your house without an architect's help bc I agree it could easily look funky and wrong. The examples above proved it for me. How much would it suck to pour hundreds of thousands of dollars into it, only to have it look bad in the end? Good luck. I've been there. Loved my old little home but it didn't make financial sense to add on. We moved. Sometimes I still miss that old house but it was the right decision.
