Comments (5)Wow, what fun it would be to see it all in person. The piece that I would covet the most in not for sale - the menu sketch by Gauguin. It is an amazing treasure trove of kitchen and dining pieces....See MoreFor all you folks with Smart TVs, Alexa, Google Home, etc.
Comments (22)I figure that in today's world, everyone's pretty much got all your information anyway. The NSA, Google, Facebook, Experian, the hackers who got into Experian and Target, etc. IMO it's pretty much impossible to avoid unless you want to live like the Amish. Sad that we all voluntarily gave up all of our privacy in the name of convenience and security, but there you go. That ship sailed when people didn't riot in the streets after finding out about mass government data collection, and if the governments going to have all my info, what does it matter really if Amazon has it too? At least Amazon gives me music and weather reports in exchange for my privacy, rather than just the illusion of security....See MoreChristmas shopping deals - if you are thinking abt Alexa
Comments (24)Have one. I didn't find it to be as intuitive as the hype. Kind of a pain to get it to do the things I might want it to do with an online interface. And it does listen to you and sync. ads with your other devices and Amazon's Web site. Pft. Enough is enough when it comes to advertising. On the plus side, radio reception is really lousy where I live and I can stream great public radio programs using it. There's not a person monitoring you, (I'm sure you all know that) but what would happen to Penny based on her conversation is she would get ads for dog training books and web sites and devices on your phone when using various apps with ads, Thanksgiving dessert ideas and products, and high end bedding. Computers are already monitoring everything you type and sharing that info. with each other. Hard to say how skillful or ethical the real person is who is responsible for all this data collection. That's the issue of our times, it can be easily used for nefarious reasons. Like you might get political ads suggesting a certain candidate doesn't believe in celebrating Thanksgiving, or kills puppies or some other such nonsense....See MoreCool feature on Alexa
Comments (11)Yes that's cool too. I just didn't realize it was also available for news. I doubt for commercials though, which makes sense, that pays the bills. Those usually don't bother me either, I can usually tune them out. Depends on how many. A lot do disgust me. I wonder if I started a thread on products or commercials I disliked, if that would be squashed. The scientist in me wants to try but that's veering into Sheldon Cooper/Amy Farrah Fowler territory...See More- 6 years ago
