porcelain vs. quartz countertop

I bought a porcelain countertop and the installer came this morning to create the template. He mentioned that you have to be careful with porcelain countertops because they can chip easily compared to marble or granite. He says you have to be careful to not put heavy things on it with lots of force. He also said if it chips it’s a little more difficult to repair than marble/granite. I love the look of the porcelain slab that I picked out but am now debating about possibly switching to quartz instead. Does anyone have any bad experiences with porcelain countertops or have any useful advice? (I definitely want to go with porcelain or quartz and have ruled out granite and marble.)
