You may actually want to rethink the entire window. It is going to have to be almost fully covered when the bathroom is in use, and in a contemporary house this is problematic because many treatments aren't all that contemporary and these will have to be huge (say like a large top down shade.The pulley mechanism will be hard to operate) The better alternative Is probably the one suggested by your architect: louvers that tilt Up toward the outside, allowing you to see out and light to come in, but blocking the view In from below on the street. Or on the inside, some sort of motorized shade (which won't work in the shower). There are a number of houses with entire walls of glass in my neighborhood, and it seems rather pointless to see them covered almost 24 hours a day with curtains or venetian blinds. Particularly cheep curtains or blinds because the windows are so big the homeowner can't afford proper window treatments on all this windows and to pay the mortgage. Some of them are little better than sheets hanging in the window and it really cheapens the look of a $1M + house .

There are things I like about your plan. But.........will there be kids or teens in the 2nd and third bedrooms? I would find a way to move closets so there is more buffer between the master wall and bedroom so you don't hear as much from each other'r rooms. Also, the "media" room will be unusable when anyone is trying to sleep with all of the bedroom doors opening off of it. If the first bedroom was made the media room, and the current media room was made a bedroom with a bath between it and the master, and a hall........the media room would have much more sound isolation. It could be configured as a room that closes and could be a bedroom if ever needed. As is, the media room is a big hallway, with the sound problem to the bedrooms. I love your home exterior! I agree windows do not have to match, unless they are next to each other and visible at the same time. Ignore my comments if the current layout works for you!

Awning windows don't vent as well as casements because they don't "catch the wind". Perhaps you could more than three casements. Or use tall gliders or double-hungs, though both would obstruct the view more than awnings. You might want to take a look at Marvin's website as the company offers many window types. Hi, nilofera, I wish I could help you out more with advice on Kolbe and Marvin but our company doesn't work with Kolbe products and we don't often use Marvin except for some specialty window styles. We are a big fan of Andersen though. We highly recommend them because of the quality of the product and service. Here are a couple of houses we did this year with Black Andersen E-Series windows. They're both more traditional in style and they have Low-E 366 glass. The first one has grids and the second does not have grids. The second also has views from the interior of the house so you can see what it's like to look through the glass, sometimes the darker exterior makes people hesitant but it's hardly noticeable from the interior. We recommend Low-E 366 for our clients because it has a lower solar heat gain coefficient which benefits our Texas homeowners. A lower SHGC rating means the window glass does a better job of shading and preventing heat gain from the sun which is especially important for us in the summer months. I would recommend choosing the glass that's going to offer the best energy ratings. Compare the NFRC ratings of your windows and if the difference isn't significant then I'd go with the more affordable option as long as it meets energy requirements.
