Bedside Lamps Question
Comments (4)The overall height of the lamp that works best for you will be different depending on your height, the type of lamp, and the size and shape of the shade. I think lamps where the bottom of the shade comes to the top of the shoulder when you are sitting up in bed work the best for me. If you can find a lamp that is in the shape of a reading or desk light, you might find that even more efficient. Try one to see if the light falls on the surface of your book when you are in the position you like to use while reading in bed....See MoreI need help decorating a guest room with beige walls and carpet
Comments (27)Leave the bed where it's located, and to gain a bit more room, you could change out the side rails and footboard for a simple metal frame. Shop around & you might find one for less than $50. Then if decorating is not your forte, purchase a prematched set of items like this Waverly set available from a variety of retailers. This queen set is from Kohls and the reversible quilt, pillow shams, bed skirt is on sale for $134. Has a matching valance. Depending on the size of your window you might need a few to install on a single rod. Nightstands are from Target, but I'm sure there are lots of this type available from Wayfair or Overstock too. I selected this style because it has drawers for your guests. Select one that is close to the height of your mattress. The lamps are from Target online also. Add some artwork and the room is done until more funds are available....See MoreI know it's absurd to fall in love with lamps ...
Comments (39)DH asked me earlier today if some of our remaining "junky crud" can go to the curb this week. I'm not even going to think twice about something if it's ugly or has wonky legs or is just downright cheap-looking ... out it goes! Like I said, I've done a great deal of weeding out already (have taken multiple car loads to the Salvation Army donation station), but there's still a bit more to be cleared. I am a bit concerned about going from a home in which I felt VERY - well, lackadaisical - about imperfections, to a home where I know both of us are going to be quite anal about for some time to come. I know dings and scuffs and spills and pet accidents will happen, but oh, how I long for it to stay nice and NEW looking for as long as possible! I still love the thought of a romantic glow from the pink lampshade, Diane! That white shade is nice too, WalnutCreek. Actually, the more I look at the lamp and the furniture that I've fallen in love with, the more I see the lamp base resembling an urchin and the wood finish of the furniture reminding me a bit of driftwood. I definitely don't want a themed bedroom, but it might be very cool to have a little romantic hideaway that reminds me of the time I've spent on the coast of Cornwall. Hmmmmmmmm ... the wheels keep a-turnin'....See Morebedside lamp and reading lamp?
