There are several people on the forum who have freestanding ranges with double ovens, several with the maytag gemini. The one complaint I have hreard, and I have a friend with one, is that the large oven is difficult to use with heave items but the small one on top is good if that is the one you will use the most. I now want the GE cafe as it has the large oven on top and the small oven on the bottom. I believe that as I get older, I will be bothered more by opening the large oven door to the floor and having to pull my turkey out of that rather then my mac n cheese from the small drawer on the bottom. Go to an appliance showroom that has both types, take a few roasters and pans and try them out. That is my advise for all appliances. You have to take pots and pans and roasters with you. I have gotten looks, but also comments of approval from people when they realize it would possible save them an appliance return.....

Please disregard the lunatic ramblings of IzGudea for some odd reason he/she/it has a fetish for me and constantly keeps making these same remarks on virtually every post I make concerning the NXR stove. Although if I understand correctly he/she/it now apparently believes that I am also someone else. Anyway so far Izgudea has offered up nothing but nonsense and should be ignored. The parts and repairs on the NXR range come from a well known repair company and used by several other manufacturers. It is called "Adco" they are the same company that does all the warranty service on Wolf stoves and also Liebherr appliances. Also the NXR is mostly "assembled" in China and partly assembled in California, ALL parts comes from various manufacturers mostly from Germany, Italy, Australia. All of the burners, valves and ignition parts are the exact same ones used in Wolf stoves, the Hinges comes from Italy. Anyway it is a great stove and if you check online, Google NXR complaints or problems or reviews etc what ever floats your boat and you will find probably the LEAST complaints for NXR stoves than you probably will ANY other stove. Also check here on Garden Web under NXR and you will find very few if any that have anything bad to say about them, except of course people that don't own one. The mother-in-law installed GE Cafe as part of her kitchen remodel 3 years ago. Gas range, OTR microwave, and 'fridge. The 'fridge died after 20 months and GE was kind enough to replace it for $700. Last month the $650 control board on the microwave went (GE isn't willing to do anything about that). So far the range has been trouble free. Personally, I wouldn't buy a GE appliance again.

We bought this range about 6 months ago. Overall I'm happy with it. I love the way it looks! One thing to watch for is the knobs. They used to be plastic, but now they are made of metal. They feel more substantial, but still are very "delicate". We broke one of the knobs off the first day we had it, by leaning over the stove! It was replaced within a week, so I guess that's good. I try to be very careful, but I bump up against them a lot when reaching up to the microwave or the cabinet above. Second problem we had was the temperature probe melted when we tried to remove it from the turkey. I used a hot pad to pull it out of the turkey, and the plastic or rubber part melted onto the hot pad and got deformed. The manual says not to use tongs to remove it, and to allow it to cool first, but how do you take the turkey out of the oven while it's "chained" to it with the probe? I haven't contacted GE yet to see if that'll get replaced, but I usually use a separate digital probe that I like better anyway. As for the vents in the back of the range, I haven't had any issues with them. I did wonder what would happen if anything boiled over, would it go down the vent? Hasn't happened to me yet, but with my luck.... Despite those issues, I still really like it!
