What kind of wood to use on vaulted ceiling?
Comments (3)personally I like beadboard with clearseal. light and shows the beauty of the wood. also light wood opens up the space. you could stain it to whatever color you'd like. but... before you install your beadboad put an air barrier on the joists/rafters. I find that wood ceilings leak a lot, when I blower door test the house. this entry for hot/cold air to enter has a big effect on the comfort/efficiency of the house. we use tyvek material attached to undersides of joists/rafters, draped down on walls for sheetrock to be installed over it. then attach the wood to the tyvek covered area. (ceiling joist or roof rafters depending on type of ceiling you have) also putting the beadboard on a diagional is a look I really like. (but that's just me) best of luck....See MoreWood floors with vaulted ceilings
Comments (3)Keep in mind though you will always have some of an echo. Cant eliminate it totally. There are different levels. I. E. you could just use like a felt pad ( cheap not the best) or you could using something called Floor Muffler ( better but around $200 for 100sqft. ) Some distributor might have testing displays to show you just how effective these can be. Take some time and look around...See Morevaulted ceilings, brick fireplace, oak floors oh my
Comments (13)I think you were right. After much thought, I chose bleeker beige and neutralized the entire room. Amazing....I was a little scared when it first went up because while it was still wet it looked greenish. However, now that it is dry, I can say it is really nice. In some light it looks a little gray and in other light it looks a little tan. This color is the answer to the "what grey can you do with golden oak floors or wood molding" question. The painter is 75 percent done. I will post pics when he is done. Then perhaps everyone here can help me choose an accent color for the room!...See MoreVaulted White Oak ceiling: to stain or not to stain?!
Comments (13)Wow so many different comments. Nothing like confusing you more. Not sure how old this post is.... If the photo color is true I think it looks amazing. I am so surprised that the flooring is red oak. It doesn't look like red oak. However it looks great, the ceiling looks great and they look great together. I also agree no stain just a water based clear coat. The room has a lot of heart and soul. I'd love to see the finished product. I am an interior designer and your look so far in this photo is so appealing. I'm sure you made the right decision and it looks perfect....See MoreSJ McCarthy
