Quartz has marks appearing on it

Our new Quartz counters have what looks like pencil marks appearing on the edges. Two different colours (white and one that looks like marble) and happening on both. Can be wiped off with magic eraser. Any idea what it is?
This was a cheaper brand our contractor assured us was as good quality as our previous ceasarstone counters that never had this.

Maybe someone’s belt buckle rubbing against it as they lean against the counter? Or some serving utensils or cookie sheets or something else metal making the marks?

No, it’s all over the edges of the counters in our kitchen in areas we never really go near.

just a follow-up after my discussion with Glaxay, well my previous sink wasn't brushed so apparently I had something black embeded in there. I was able to remove the black mark (not the scratch though)it with bar keepers friend & a 3m sponge. Whew! I'm still trying to rub out the smudge mark. Galaxy support is the best.

No, they just say its part of the stone. no help at all and it 100% wasn't anywhere within the first month or so and i now have spots everywher. even though i have a bunch of photos proving they weren’t there in beg.

It doesn't look like a crack to me - it looks like the mark a metal utensil or pan would make. And if it is, BKF or the other things mentioned WILL remove it. Go ahead and try - betting money you can easily remove the mark.

It does look like metal transfer, but here is an idea of a test you could try. Take a piece of masking tape and cover an edge for a week. Then peel up the tape and see if any new marks have occured. If yes, then you have proof it is NOT metal transfer.

If they come off with a magic eraser and then keep reappearing ... then people in your house are causing it. Could be belt buckle, rivets on jeans, jewelry, hoodie zippers, etc, or all of them by different people in the house.

Ditto what has been suggested above. That's some kind of metal from someone standing against the counter. It could be even briefly when they don't realize they have even been against it. It doesn't need to be a work area where you know you have been standing and prepping food or cleaning up.

(The mystery marks on our pine dresser turned out to be DH. He would shower, partially dress and put on his heavier watch on work days, then step back into the bedroom and reach into a dresser drawer. Soft pine, metal Swiss Army watch - and shallow scratches.)
