Hope you all had a good time with your loved ones. I made seared scallops and asparagus tips. We had a great dinner and are curled up watching Christmas movies.

bragu, I love to just graze, much better than a huge meal IMO, although I haven't convinced my family of that yet. I'm making brisket tomorrow myself, I think. I just can't talk Elery into putting it into the smoker, he says it takes too long, LOL.

Edie, I showed Madi and Maci how to find Santa on NORAD. Ashley was back in the hospital for a couple of days, but now she's home, just on time for Christmas, thankfully.

bbstyx, we're having Tenderloin too, although not until Saturday. You reminded me that I have asparagus in the freezer too....

Merry Christmas to you and yours also! Just got home from family dinner. My granddaughter is so excited - she's just at that age to anticipate Santa's coming. Can't wait to go over tomorrow to see what she got!

Merry Christmas! Our dinner is tomorrow. DBIL is grilling the tenderloin. Sister is in charge of the asparagus. I’ve got the Gruyere Grits and the Amaretto Cheesecake in the fridge. Can’t wait!

I still bake my mom's traditional christmas pasteries, but we stopped exchanging gifts several years ago. The young people all have little kids to get presents for and my generation already has everything we need (except energy). I did buy myself a couple of things and then my sister dropped off two gifts. One from her and one from Annie (her standard poodle who I dog sit on occassion.) Annie often gets me little gifts. My one friend who lives in California was going to be alone on Christmas Day and had also gotten two small gifts, so we decided to talk on the phone while we unwrapped our gifts so we had someone to share with. The first gift I unwrapped was a soap infused bath scrubby by Spongelle (From the dog) My friend opened her first gift - a soap infused bath scrubby by Spongelle! She then opened her second gift - a travel pillow! I opened the gift from my sister who had said she knew we weren't supposed to exchange gifts, but she could not resist buying this: A pillow! Couldn't believe that we both got the same gifts, albeit her pillow was not as charming as mine.

we are having family come and go the next several days, so instead of formal meals, we'll just graze ... trying it out. There's always something in a crock pot. Pulled pork on wed, and brisket on thurs-fri ... and little smokies and bbq ... and more

Made a jellyroll I can hardly wait to cut ....

Annie, I'm glad Ashley didn't have to spend Christmas in the hospital! That in itself is a blessing!!

Merry Christmas, everyone. I was just invited to a dinner later today and 'those cheese cookies' were requested again. I can't escape them. lol! Today's the day, though, because I'm finally trying the manchego w/ fig jam combination that I've imagined in my mind for a long while. The manchego was both creamy and dry, so it shredded beautifully. The dough smelled wonderful! I hope they're as good as the cheddar w/ hot pepper jelly version I've been making.

ETA: decided to make half w/ fig and half w/ jalapeno jelly. :)

Thanks and the same to all!

Our Christamas Eve dinner was frozen pizza because my oven's timed bake feature malfunctioned and the lasagna I made never got baked while I was singing in the choir @ church.

It's all good tho - we'll have it today along with baked salmon and various side dishes, along with lots of cookies and cake.

Yesterday the oldest grandson (17) slow-smoked a salmon. It took hours to smoke but came out so delicious... or so I'm told. Our Prime Rib is on the grill at low heat. Second GS and I are making a Pavlova Wreath with berry topping..... something all with allergies and food sensitivities can have; and, it's quite pretty.

Kids are all working (Cop and night nurse), so we're going out for Chinese tonight.

We'll have everyone over on Friday for crab (season finally opened!), salad and french bread. DSIL does his grandma's scalloped potatoes and who knows what my sister will come up with! (One time she showed up for TG with a pumpkin to make pie with! Luckily my other sister had a double oven!)
