Kohler Life in the Country Artist Edition Fireclay Sink
Comments (9)Barb, You are breaking my heart!!! I abandoned my desire to have that sink because it was so expensive, and I couldn't justify that purchase AND the Bluestar AND the Bluestar hood AND ... well, I'm sure you know how it goes. I swear, the decisionmaking in remodeling is possibly more difficult than the inconvenience and the crooked contractors! Ok, so, IMHO, I do not think that black would look good at all with your sink. I have a small 1924 bungalow (a Sears kit house, if you happen to know what that is), and I'm trying to decorate and remodel in keeping with that time period. I felt that the Life in the Country sink, aside from being unique and pretty, did kind of have a vintage-looking design. After struggling with the decision on a type of counter, I decided on marble, both because I love the look and because it is a classic look. Here's the sink I ended up buying: And even though I didn't get your beautiful sink, I've stuck with the decision on marble. But don't ask me if it's installed yet. Of course not. I then had to learn about marble, and grades, and availability and honing and fabricators, and then I couldn't find any slabs that I liked in Wisconsin's extremely limited selection. I do plan to have a honed marble, mostly white, and lately, I've been fixated on Carrara. I'm attaching a link to recent post on GW that shows a beautiful pic of a white granite, tho, that may work for you if you prefer granite. Apparently, you can even have honed granite. At any rate, I'm no decorator, but even if you're not decorating in the time period style that I am, I still think a plain, light colored counter would look best with your sink. The sink is a work of art in and of itself and should be the focal point, not to mention that you don't want the whole look to be too busy. Whatever you decide to do, please post a picture of the finished room, so I can enjoy it vicariously. I'm so jealous. They didn't happen to have any more, did they? ;) Here is a link that might be useful: White Kitchen Countertop post by redwood15 on 3/24/11...See MoreKohler 'rinsing sink' - Would you want this?
Comments (15)Well, I am going to tip the scale a tiny bit: I really like the look. Of course it is also $$$$$$$$$ and that is most likely because of the integrated plumbing and all the controls that are involved. It won't have a place in my current kitchen, because of both space and budget issues. But in my dream kitchen maybe :). The thin prep sinks are actually quite useful, when next to the cooktop/rang area. They run close to the back so you don't loose counter space but still have to convenience of a prep sink. Also, you don't have to travel to your sink (prep or main) for dumping the scraps... Chop and dump in one move. Useful also to drain the excess liquid/stuff from your pots, without traveling with a huge hot thing to the sink... Since the path is longer for the hot liquid when draining and then you have the added feature of the cold water, I would assume it is also less damaging to the pipes. So what do you think? Shall I ask for some commission from Kohler for being their spoke person on this subject? LOL ;)...See MoreShaped stainless undermount low divide kit sink
Comments (0)I feel I'm over-posting about kitchen sinks, but I hope this my last. My wife would like an undermounted equal-double stainless steel kitchen sink with a low divider. However, she doesn't really want two "square" basins. She wants a curved shape on the faucet side like Kohler's cast iron "Langlade" model and I've been unable to find such a shape in stainless steel. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes such a sink? Thanks....See MoreKohler sink...which one???
Comments (2)Here's a black Kohler that I replaced with stainless steel: Worn out and nasty. Don't let those little chips metastasize please. I don't know about Kohler's composite sinks, but I doubt I'd ever get a Blanco: I don't care if they did invent the stuff, I've replaced too many cracked, fading, leakers. I installed this Elkay Quartz Luxe three years ago. The lady sold the house and I'm installing the same sink again, so she must have liked it. She sold three sinks for me....See MoreSammy
