I don't like the armoire in the corner because it just so very large and it looks cramped there because there is no wall showing. You're not showing us the complete room so it's hard to provide any valid advice, but maybe the armoire should be flat against a wall ............somewhere.

Hi Beverly, you do pretty much see the whole room there...at least the space to work with. To the right is just open space and french doors where no furniture can be...and to the right of that is the kitchen pictured above. Opposite the window seat is a hallway...which is what makes it impossible to place that armoire againsta a wall while still having a seating area.

Manon..Those are some interesting ideas! Is all of that furniture here on Houzz? I LOVE leather but so do my cats, unfortunately. :/ I would probably never have chosen that rug but it does pull all the elements together nicely. I like the chairs. Not sure about the style or color of the sofa but it does all work together. It's a bit casual for my taste. I want the room to have a relaxed but sophisticated feel with clean lines.

Thanks so much for Dunmore cream! I do really like how that looks warm with the red, but less saturated than what I have now. :) Unfortunately, my blue sofa is long gone :/

I think an oatmeal colored sofa would look great with your armoire and your rug, which I would keep. Instead of grays, paint the room in a warm white which will better coordinate with the red and with your kitchen. You can lighten and update your room even with your current furniture if you just updated the lamp, used textured neutral colored pillows, and lightened the wall color.

Here's another option. The rug is from Loloi. It repeats the red of your armoire, but it's more subtle than what your currently have. I think it's pretty versatile and would work well the other Oriental style rugs you have. I paired it with a gray linen-like sofa from Barbara Barry and simple slope arm chairs by Mitchell Gold. The chairs could easily be an oatmeal, a fawn or any color from the rug.

I like the idea of a glass coffee table, particularly if you have a rug with a pattern that's meant to be seen.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your help! I think I have a plan. I was going to edit my original post but it won't let me :/ In any case, I've decided to use the taupe paint currently in my dining room everywhere else. It provides the earthy sophisticated feel I'm looking for while still feeling warm and working with the red armoire, my red kitchen cabinets and will make the white subway and white kitchen cabinets pop I think. Going with a gray sofa and gray patterned chairs. May or may not change the rug for a monochrome gray depending on how it looks. Also going to move my entertainment center to the middle of the wall opposite the sofa. I didn't think it would work to have the chairs on either side due to the 26" depth of the armoire, BUT I think if I just move them out from the wall it should work fine. Woo hoo! Super excited and appreciate everyone's help!

@HU-117172700 Hi, must say you have received all great inputs up there. If you can share your floor plan/ hand drawn plan with dimensions I will get back to you with a mock up of your space with all the ideas and inputs you mentioned above. An interactive 3D might add to better purchase decision.
