Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....too cold! I need to wear long sleeves.
Yes, it's a bit cold but I live with it. Nature of the beast!
I am warm-blooded or live in a warm climate....it feels great to me!
Never occurred to me. Doesn't bother me one bit.

Does your family think you are researching your Remodel too much?
Comments (39)piegirl, I admire your tenacity. We are trying to finish this remodel over the next month, (an agressive goal) because it was already pretty close to the end when I resumed it with this new contractor, or so I thought. That was BEFORE GW! Now that I know so-ooo much more, everyone is in Real Trouble! The next few months are the busiest of the year in my profession. When I resumed the idea of finishing the bath in late November, I thought we might have it done by Christmas. When I decided to change tubs, (I learned about GW somewhere in here) I was sure it would be done by January. Once I learned about Panasonic WW, Kerdi, heated floors and towel racks, February has eluded me! Ah, March through May ... my busy season. When we a photographing high school seniors for their graduation invitations and photographing their Proms, and they are 'ravenous' to get their 'stuff '! THAT'S WHEN I AM FINISHING MY BATHROOM! Pretty smart on my part, huh? :( I would have been much smarter to wait until summer, but I was fearful that something else would happen to deter me. And besides, I PROMISED my daughters a soak in that wonderful Tub! So if you guys notice me 'going a little crazy' over the next few weeks when I write in to vent, just say to yourselves, "she's gonna be awright, it's her busy season, you know!" So piegirl, if you spent 'hours' researching for a whole house over a year's time, you will be my inspiration! I will try to remember that this is just part of the process. And you're right, those victorius AHAH! moments are awesome! hamster, I laughed out loud at the "task lighting" brand of lighting products. It IS wonderful to have some place to go to ask even the simplest questions. I have a feeling that when I show my 'doubting Thomas' friends some of these posts, they will just tell me that I have found a bunch of electronic friends who are just as anal and nuts as I am! They, too, will not be invited to the "Bathwarming Party"! I think everyone who has worked as hard as we have should throw one! Comments (19)I don't find quartz to be as cold as granite, though it's not "warm" like Formica or Corian (plastic). Tile seems warmer to me than quartz, but I haven't done any kind of side by side test and they might be about the same. Granite is cold. Soapstone seems less cold. Don't know why, since both are solid rock. Maybe the crystals vs. um, flaky layers (I forget what soapstone is called)? Quartz is crystals in resin, so maybe that is it--crystals are colder? But less so if they're insulated with resin (plastic)?...See MoreLowe's calls this 'granite.' What do you think it is??
Comments (13)Gosh, I don't think it's engineered. It's definitely natural--I had to get the backsplash replaced and the second backsplash they gave me has a little amber coloring at the top that the first didn't have. But I'm sure it's probably cheap and from China. Oh well! I still think it's pretty...and it adds a little bit of bling on a reno that's on a tight budget (after blowing our wad on our kitchen...whoops!). **Oh, and just for a little good news in the remodeling world of big box stores, since I'm generally pretty un-impressed with them--Lowe's was GREAT--bought the vanity back in August and my husband JUST opened the box that had the backsplash in it--and it was broken clean in half!! I called Lowe's that minute and explained what happened, and they got a new one out, gave me the backsplash and put the other one out without the backsplash as "damaged" on the floor (in case anyone doesn't want that 4" backsplash, the Lowe's in Glenmont, NY has a super-cheap vanity just for you!!) Hope you like it, kelleg...I would feel terribly guilty if people buy this because I posted pics of it and it turns out to be junk! I DEFINITELY think it needs to be sealed--no doubt. Like I said, I'm going to ask my fabulous local tile shop (that just happends to be darn expensive...hence the reason I'm only buying the grout and sealer from them!!) and see what they say. They've never steered me wrong before. And maybe they can identify the stone for me. :) Sarah (oh, and my mantra for all of my renovations as a fairly young couple with little kids is to try to get the bones of the reno right...and leave room for upgrading when we're older...for example, I got a 36" gas cooktop in the kitchen and double ovens...both Frigidaire...someday, if/when we get more cash, we might up the ante and get Wolf/Bosch/Thermador...whatever. Same with the vanity--right size, right placement...easy to swap out down the line)...See MoreBlack 'granite' countertops - do they feel cold (visually)?
