The logical location for the tv is the wall that has the stairs. I suggest that you place your long couch with its back to the window, and the shorter love seat with its back towards where the photo was taken. Place the chair in the corner where the tv is located, to the right of the fireplace. There might be glare on the tv from the window, but that can be resolved with window treatments. It is a very nice room. Good luck!

you haven't provided any measurements, or pics of your furniture. a description does us no good. (but it sounds as if it's too large for this space) is there a place you can stand to take a pic that shows the entire room? maybe a floor plan with schematic of your furniture? pics of your sofa? off the bat, could you place the sofa so that it faces the tv wall and have the L portion go under the window?kind of like this just look at furniture placement, ignore style and fireplace

Hi Mark, You’ve mentioned several good thoughts, you just need to get them working together! You’ve also got a nice space to work with. Personally, I prefer separate pieces over a sectional, but the configuration of your space works perfectly for a sectional. To help your space feel larger, float your sectional in the center of the space. The axis should be from the center between the two windows to the center of the back of the sectional to the center of the TV across the room. I would float the back of the sectional out from the wall at least 3”. It looks like you could also include a console table behind to have a lamp or two for lighting options. The console table can be right at the back of the sectional, but I would still leave 3” or so to the wall behind it. For additional furniture, I would add a coffee table in the center that won’t mind people’s feet on it and either an armchair or ottoman (maybe two) toward the entrance of the room. Another side table at the room-entrance end of the sectional for another lamp and place to land a drink would be good. In the spaces at either end of the room you don’t really need anything, but you could add bookcases/storage or small occasional seating to pull in as needed. In terms of sizes, I would be guided by walking space. 3 feet wide for any main walking path (really just from the entrance to the opposite end of the room in front of the TV), and 18” between the coffee table and any furniture. Measure the pieces you’re looking at and lay them out on paper before you buy. Sorry for the long answer! Hope that helps. - Doug

I hate TV in my LR and have only one time ever had it there and never again. I guess you need to know how you entertain . We have amedia room in our walk out with also a pool table and a bar we use that space for sports or a movie sometimes with friends. I think if the bedroom is big enough I would do that. In you case you have some large walls that could accommodate a Besta type design with the TV even behind doors and some staorage and a bit of display . I find builtins usually are cluttered with a bunch of stuff not really worth displaying. I think in a contemporary space like yours I would not do traditional bookcase type display at all. Something like this idea would keep the TV at the proper viewing height and you could do the type of TV that looks like art when not in use
