Need advice on Wall Art placement and Size of Art
Comments (16)@groveraxle I really, really like your placement of artwork with the four pieces!! Thank you very much for your input!! Would you say that the 2 smaller black and white pieces are 8x10 frames? I'm trying to figure out what size of frames and the 2 larger canvases are, so I can make this look happen! Also, do you happen to know where the floating shelf below the tv can be purchased? Or something similar? You made my morning with your help!!!...See MoreFind artwork by Phillip Moose or similar to this wall art style
Comments (1)Google the artist and discover his works sold at auctions such as Artnet.com. No clue if this particular piece was reproduced. Mr. Goose passed away in 2001 from what I read. Alternatively, you can comment on the article and ask the designer where she sourced the piece. Might have been a gallery selling his work or might have already belonged to the homeowner. The gallery might have other works of his you might appreciate. Btw, you’re posting to a user forum made up of decorating amateurs and pros, not writing to Houzz staff directly. :) Hope you find something to your taste. That is gorgeous art in a gorgeous room!...See MoreArt websites for large wall art
Comments (3)I've used Saatchi Art ( https://www.saatchiart.com/), which has art in a variety of sizes at a variety of price points. If your budget is more toward prints (though depending on the medium and the artist, original art can be pretty affordable), Great Big Canvas (https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/) or iCanvas ( https://www.icanvas.com/) sell large size prints in a variety of styles. Also, give IRL art shopping a chance. Galleries, art fairs, or the rotating artwork at you local cafe give you a chance to support local artists. I have many pieces from a local studio that provides space and services to disabled adults. There are also student art shows. I know it's more work than the internet, where you can look at hundreds of pieces in an hour and easily filter by price and size, but local shopping is rewarding and supports artists directly....See MoreArt or no Art over stone fireplace?
Comments (19)Thanks everyone. I agree on the drapes, they came with the house - don’t love them. But the in addition to the two windows on each side of the fire place there there is a very large window on the walls to right and the left. So this will be quite an expense that I was trying to avoid. But definitely an option and would do in a similar way as @BeverlyFLADeziner suggests. I also agree with a chunkier mantel, however the mantel replacement will require additional stone work, so unless I can modify what I have, vs. replace it - that is not an option. I will definitely keep my eyes open for Art, you have sent some great suggestions that I like a lot. I don’t think I will go with a mirror, as I had one up for awhile and hated the reflection.. as some has commented could be an issue....See Morehappynons
