Sounds like you have a good batch/supplier. It is a good year for them. I've had a few this season. Cool storage or refrigeration they should last a couple months. They have that hard shell that helps keep them from drying out.

(I add the seed to my basic vinaigrette this time of the holidays.)

We rarely work between xmas and the new year so I make a batch of spa waters for the freezer in juice container. Different combinations of cranberry, poms, ginger, lemon, (any fruit I've stored, juiced)...cucumber, beet, turmeric...a family member always sends a holiday box of Florida citrus. Seems to work out to 4/5 times a year making the juice bottles...seasonal. Take out of freezer to thaw overnight in the fridge. (still partially frozen). Continues to thaw all day at work...top off with water or seltzer during the day...

We get busy again after the holidays so I take advantage of the time off to freeze.

I've never kept them after the new year since I buy now and use or freezer within a month/6 weeks. When the Florida box arrives we run out of fridge space as garage storage gets risky with deep freezing temps.

I've had good luck open, no bag. maybe do a test this year? I'm always testing all my garden squashes...single layer in those sturdy Costco flat veg/fruit boxes that stack. Right by the deep back corner of the garage near the house door.

Make pomegranate juice.

If I get around to it, I will seed and freeze in single layers then bag up. But for the next couple months, will they last longer if stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator or on an open refrigerator shelf?

I never put them in plastic, but I don't know if plastic would be better. They seem to last as long on the counter as in the fridge. They dry out either way.
