Comments (4)When I google image search acer rubrum bark, most photos have very thick scales or ridges, it doesn't really look like this. Also, I don't have any great red fall color from these. Comments (9)The many tall tree-like ones I have seen here have all been leaning markedly or have had other things about their appearance/condition that did not make them come across as fully committed, bona fide trees. I like this species much better hard pruned in spring to remain short and bushy. There are multiple kinds of flowering dogwoods and countless hybrids........and they don't all bloom at the same time.
