Has anyone ordered from Wayside Gardens
Comments (51)I wish I would have found this site earlier. The Wayside Gardens web site is awsome and they have some plants that I can't find at my local nursery or big box stores, however they are a bit pricey. I placed an order (April 2006), received it timely, excellent packaging, There after is where the problem starts! Two of the three plants arrived with the bottom half (and I do mean the whole bottom half) of the plants were covered with some type of leaf blight. The leaves were totally covered in brown spots with dark circles. The tops of the plants were a washed out green covered in some kind of brown fuzz. I called them immediately, and was told it was just some type of fungus plants get due to stress when they are shipped. That all I would have to do is buy some fungicide spray and they will be okay after a week or two. I disagreed with them as the damage was so extensive. They said they try to run very tight quality control, these must have slipped by and they would ship out replacements immediately. In the meantime I ordered some additional bulbs and a couple of more plants using a 15% off coupon they sent. The website said they gave free upgrade shipping, however when I entered the code for the 15% off coupon, the site then added back the additional charge for upgrading the shipping which just happened to cancel out the 15% off. The site would not let me delete or cancel the upgrade . I called again and was promised by the customer rep that he would remove the additional charge and submit the order for processing. The next day I received the replacement plants for the first order. Guess what...... They were in the exact same condition as the plants they were sent to replace. I called again. A different customer gave me the explanation I got the first time and said they could give me an in store credit. I responded that that wouldn't work, but I had another order they could credit. She pulled the order up to apply the credit and surprise, surprise...the first rep did NOT credit the account for the extra shipping charges. I was upset about it all evening and called the next day to cancel the order and get my money back. The third rep once again explained that the horticulturist (???) said the problem was due to wet conditions in the warehouse and shouldn't affect the plants other than they didn't look pretty, I should just spray them. I insisted on cancelling the order, he then said he would try but since it was already into processing he couldn't guarantee the cancellation!! Save your money...... buy somewhere that doesn't play games with their customers....See MoreHas anyone switched from a HE TL to a FL washer?
Comments (9)Try_hard Sorry for the long post. It's interesting to see all the terrible reviews of the Kenmore Oasis. My family and I bought my gradmother a Maytag Bravos washer, the sibling machine to the Oasis. Because the Oasis, Cabrio and Bravos are essentially the same machine, it makes me wonder if my poor grandmother is going to have to deal with a malfunctioning rust bucket sometime soon, just as johnner1999 is concerned about his/her Cabrio that's on the way. However, I have noticed that the reviews of the Bravos are almost polar opposite of the Oasis' with the Cabrio's reviews being more of a mixed bag. Albeit a few negative reviews, most reviews of the Bravos are positive. This, and the fact that the Bravos made it's debut way after the Oasis did, (so most of the bugs the Oasis has were worked out by the time the Bravos came out) are my only reassurances that my grandmother will not have to deal with the headache of a malfunctioning washer. But aside from that, my grandmother absolutely loves her Bravos! It has a sheets cycle, a whites cycle and a colors/jeans cycle as well. I mention this because these cycles may suit your needs based on the way you sort your laundry according to the list you have above. It has a HUUUUUUGE capacity and therefore can wash things like big comforters and pillows. It also rinses very well by utilizing ths unique spin/spray rinse technique that it does several times before going into the final spin. It will also utilize this same spin/spray technique before the main wash cycle while mixing the water sprayed onto the clothes with detergent if you select the stain treat option. In general, I feel the Bravos is an excellent product and highly recommend it! You may also want to consider the GE Harmony as well as nwesterner mentions. The Harmony seems to get glowing reviews from owners on this forum and elsewhere. It does not seem to have all the problems the Oasis has. Nwesterner, Whether the Harmony is better that the Cabrio or Bravos (which both seem to get better reviews than the Oasis), I'm not sure. I have no experience with the Harmony, only the Bravos. Also worth checking out are the Fisher and Paykel washers, which also seem to get great reviews here and elsewhere. Lastly there is also the Haier Genesis, another HE TL washer that I do not know anything about other than it's existence, but it's another option. Hope this helps! Good luck with your move and let us know what you decide to buy!! :o) Here is a link that might be useful: Maytag Bravos at Lowe's...See MoreHas anyone bought plants from QVC? Would you recommend them?
Comments (13)There are SO many wonderful daylily farms out there - one reason I personally would not buy from QVC is that I would not be completely sure I was getting the named variety I was promised. Another reason is that all these wonderful farms depend on continued business to stay open, like rose people discourage buying from "big box" stores in favor of rose nurseries, to help them stay in business. I have ordered from quite a few rose and daylily nurseries this year [more than I should!]. If there is a particular daylily you want, google it - you will find a list of farms that carry it. Also, I really enjoy The Lily Auction online. LOTS of great daylilies and great prices! I have bought very expensive lilies for a fraction of their cost, and they sell seeds so you can raise your own. I have known Jack Carpenter for years { I cherish his huge diploids, no one else breeds those like he did]. Mark is a worthy heir - SUCH a nice friendly guy and will go overboard to earn your business. He is putting in a nursery that carries other kinds of plants, opening March 2. Well worth the trip! He digs huge fans, super healthy plants and gives daylily gifts with purchase. Other farms do this too....something QVC doesn't do. I have found so many great daylily farms just by googling a particular lily. Just ordered from Tom Kearst Gardens for some particular lilies I wanted.........See Morehas anyone used bacqyard design !?
Comments (33)A few months ago, I gave their services a try and ended up working with Mark. I'm based in Maryland and was a tad worried about how the communication would go, but turns out, it was smooth sailing. I could reach Mark easily, whether it was via video call, phone, or email. We began with an intro call that ran for about 45 minutes. We chatted about the nitty-gritty of the project, my hopes for the backyard, and did a virtual tour of the property using Zoom. Mark was really attentive and asked a bunch of questions. Roughly three weeks in, I received the first draft, which included the 3D visuals. They gave me the choice of either scheduling a follow-up call with Mark or just leaving my feedback notes on the platform. Initially, I thought the call was going to cost extra, but it was actually included in the package, which was a pleasant surprise! Who would pass up on a free chance to chat with a designer again, right? So, I booked that follow-up call. During a screen-sharing call, Mark took his time to go over the entire design, explaining the reasoning behind certain choices. I gave my two cents and we agreed on the changes that had to be made. Around a week later, I got the revised 3D visuals, as we had discussed. After giving the design a thumbs up, I got the final design files a few days after. These files included 3D renderings, installation plans with dimensions, planting plan, material list, lighting plan, a shopping list for furniture and accessories. Overall, the whole process was great thanks to Mark, and in the end, I was happy with the result. There was one glitch - I had a bit of a hard time uploading the property photos to their platform. But their customer service team sorted out the issue quickly. They gave me other options for getting my stuff over to the design team. So, a little advice to anyone at bacqyard reading this, a bit of an upgrade in that area might be worth considering. Apart from that small snag, I had a pretty solid experience. Pretty solid product for the price. Thanks, guys!...See MoreLars
