Oriental rug expert advice needed

last modified: 4 years ago

I have recently bought 3 Tufenkian area rugs. They are wool hand-knotted Setana weave rugs made in Nepal. They are still in the "test-drive" period, so I have the option of returning them. My concern is that the white edge of the band on the bottom of the ends of the rugs is visible when the rugs are lying on the floor. I have 3 other previously purchased Tufenkians and that is not the case with them. Two of those previously have fringe so they don't have a band. The third does have this same kind of band, but you can't see it when the rug is lying on the floor. The ones I just recently bought have a pile height of .55". The older rug's pile height is .44". Could this be the cause? So my question basically is : Is this a construction defect or is it perfectly acceptable for a high-end hand-knotted rug? By the way, is there a proper term for the band I am talking about? Photos attached:
