Having just gone through this process, I can say that, while a roofer may make a suggestion, it's really up to you to decide. Drive around and look at houses. Black roofs in my area are passe (we've been there, done that on our house too...25 years ago!). What you need to keep in mind are: region, weather, contrast and style of your house. Personally I would not defer to the roofer. I think the Moire Black, while lovely, is not right for your house. Perhaps something softer would be more appropriate (others have made good suggestions), given your future plans to change the landscaping and the lighting. If your future plans include changing out the front door, I'd suggest beefing it up w/ one that has side panels of glass. That would be more in keeping w/ the sytle of your house. Also, if you are working on curb appeal, there are ways to diminish the stark look of garage doors that face the front of the house. Re: metal roof. IMHO, don't go there unless you live in a frigid climate like Norhtern New England. My grandparents had that on their house in North Conway, NH. The advantage: the snow literally slides right off. The disadvanate: it's rather ugly (beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?)

your house is more of spanish ranch, and the dream house is more of a tudor. what kind of roof are you doing? the same type or a clay spanish style, metal?? "I don't want my house to blend in or stand out like sore thumb". lol. well, then what would you like? If it doesn't blend in w/the others, it's going to stand out. It's good to be different. this body somewhat mimics yours and what you want, w/the pop outs done in a darker color. it still has the tile roof though. I don't care for the taupe-pink color, but imagine this in a warm white w/a tan or soft black trim. spanish styles look nice in soft whites w/black trim, some nice tile work or stone work on the body. this spanish style is one of my favorites. most homes like yours are light with a brown, black or that patina color of greenish/blue. do your home a favor and get a spanish style roof, or the metal roof (metal roof will last your lifetime). so some sort of talavera or saltillo type of tile. NM is the perfect place to have a home like this. why don't you look at Spanish Ranch homes and see if you find anything you like?

Hmmm...neither of those shingle colors look right to me. It could just be my screen, but the top one looks like it could have a little blue undertone, and the bottom one looks a bit red. Is the brick mortar more gray...or more gray than it looks on my screen? If so, I'd stick with gray for the roof as long as it has no blue. Gray roofs with brick are usually nice. Agree there's not much room for properly sized shutters. You could beef up the window trim instead. BTW, the roof color in your third photo looks good. Maybe stick with something close to that.
