Comments (4)Vikki, drum roll please... my light bulb has just come on. While in Vancouver on the mainland a trip to the VanDusen Botanical Gardens it's right in the heart of Vancouver might interest you, also the UBC Botanical Gardens and the Nitobe Memorial Garden both close to each other at U.B.C. The Macmillian and Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park (tropicals and birds) is nice as well. If you google these you'll find more info on them. Then there is the Sun Yat-Sen Gardens, this too is in downtown Vancouver. Maybe some of these will be of interest to you. Ahhh, brings back some memories of some very fun days out and about with six gal gardening buddies. We use to hire a Limo and along with some liquid refreshment... but that's another story LOL. Comments (16)lovehadley, I once traveled back from the Caribbean with DS then 5 and my 1st cousin's son also 5 after a similar family gathering. We were dropping him off in NY for his parents (he traveled down with his aunt/mom's sis and flew back with us) and then we went on to LA. Cousin got the proper forms, very much like kkny's, from the airline directly, in this case American. She picked it up from one of their sales offices. As mentioned above, no one asked for the document on either trip, just the passports(we also had copies of the birth certificate, pre-school IDs - loaded for bear This is becase on an earlier trip another cousin did NOT have her kids passports, they left the US ok but couldn't come back. She had to scramble, fly to the counsulate high drama) so now better safe than sorry. Immigration only asked what were the relationships and looked at the passports. I heard the airlines will e-mail the forms to you now if you have purchased tickets. I don't remember them being notarized, not to say they weren't, but is probably a good idea....See MoreAnother travel question.
Comments (16)It sounds like an amazing experience...I would totally let my child go if I were comfortable with the family. One of my kids (16) is a huge traveler. Both of my kids have been lots of places with us, of course, so are accustomed to air travel, etc., but dd has always wanted more. At 14 she went with a teen adventure travel group (a highly regarded company with a top notch program that vets the kids) out west for two weeks. The travel part involved flying from the East Coast with a connection...I was a little apprehensive about that part since they wouldn’t be with the chaperones until reaching Jackson Hole, but she flew UM & all was well. She is actually spending 2 weeks in Slovenia this summer through this same company! While I don’t have travel anxiety per se, I do suffer from claustrophobia so don’t love long plane trips. I am thrilled dd doesn’t have this problem. I believe young people should take any opportunity they can get to enrich themselves through travel. Your son will have an amazing, insider’s view of life in Egypt....See MoreJust a question about visa's for Japan
Comments (6)Things have changed so I can't help either. I do know my son and his friends cancelled thier trip for this month. He could have gotten in but would've had to spend all of his time with family, which he didn't want to do. And they would have had to fill out a bunch of paperwork to get him in. He's hoping for early next year now. His friend who is in the U.S. wouldn't have been able to go at all. The other two are already in the country, one being a Japanese citizen and one stationed there in the military but he found out their travel would be very restricted. Homepage - U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Japan (usembassy.gov) I sent this page to my son last month. If you notice at the very top it has a highlighted area saying you should reconsider travel to Japan right now. I don't know if this will help you as you aren't going until next year but you may find some information there. Now that I think about it, I think the info was so vague on that page that I told him to contact them directly. I think he called the U.S. Embassy in London and got his information....See Morelegomom23
