Price doesn't matter; gorgeous fixtures and art can be found for cheap if one's lucky and knows where to look; personality does. that's what I keep (whether we eat or not; obviously take off if a big party) on our dining table-a 2 by 3 embroidered wool runner, a wooden bowl with fruits, a colorful jar from Mexico, and flowers in a simple vase(flowers change of course). It sounds a lot, but it isn't. My table is simpler than yours though. So..I'd say just one thing, be it flowers or beautiful bowl (not wooden, in your case..porcelain or maybe metallic?)..or nothing, as Fori and Manon suggested-with a different lighting fixture, will be cool as is.

Are they streaks or scratches? If they are always in the same place, it may be that the finish is marred. I wouldn’t use acid (vinegar) on my wood table, but I don’t know that it would hurt it if you have a strong enough finish. You have lower end bonded leather, regular leathers that are only dyed on the surface, and others that are dyed throughtout the leather. There is something not right about the post with that leather chair. I had dogs, toddlers, hanging all over a real leather chair we owned for 20 years that didn't look like that one. Something is up with that post. Not normal. Take away…do research on foam density, rub wear of fabrics, avoid solvent only clean fabrics, and frame construction…and ask the in-store designer…not just the salesperson.
