& it reminds me of my cousin's teensy, tiny condo kitchen near Bryant Park, NYC. He was a chef and prepared some fantastic meals for us there. It was not as 'rustic' tho.

Ugh to the whole flat. I like quirky. I like bohemian. I didn't like any room or any element of any room. It just looked cluttered and random.

No. If you came upon that IRL, the first thing you‘d want to do is tidy it up. That goes for the whole apartment.

Haven't checked out the link yet, but that kitchen looks like it's in an old camp cabin. I could function there only if camping. Otherwise it's much too rough for modern living.

ETA: Just viewed the other pics, and to me there's something about the randomness that borders on pretension.

NO!!! How do you even clean those countertops? Is there a range/oven/stovetop? Is there a fridge? It's not the lack of cabinets. It's the clean factor for me. It looks like a potting shed.

Yes I could function in that kitchen. Question is what I want to? My answer would be I wouldn't want to. :-) I like room to do the cooking clean up and putting out plates of food all in the same kitchen. Plus where would I put my second dishwasher :-)

No, I could not. It doesn't look or "feel" hygienic to me. Reminds me of a potting shed, as beckysharp mentioned. I have never heard of Sibella Court. (I do have Anna Spiro's book though so not totally oblivious to the Southern Hemisphere decor world.) Looked at the pics in the linked story. Not my style. What's with the upside down numbers and empty shelves? What's with the numbers at all? I think IdaClaire nailed it: pretension.

Love jinx's photo but that kitchen looks much wider than Court's kitchen.

World of difference, Jinx! I'm not a fan of open shelving, but I rather like it in your photo, which is an example of compact space done beautifully.

Like Ida, it reminded me of some camp kitchens I've cooked in. The answer then is yes I could cook in there. And some good food, although I might not enjoy it. I've cooked meals for 20 over an open fire . . . But if I had my say, I might spring for something slightly nicer.

The bathroom gave me even more of the creeps, and I love old bathroom fixtures.

FWIW, I had a kitchen about that size in one of my apartments except I had an ancient albeit full size stove and fridge, but otherwise same kind of set up, and same kind of sink. I hated it. Made me feel very claustrophobic which is why I hated cooking in there. Mine was in the back of my upstairs apartment so the ceiling was also low and slanted.

I don't see a dishwasher, so "no" I couldn't function there.

The bathroom was just plain unattractive. And if that is supposed to be the kitchen instead of a potting shed it is downright unacceptable!

Forget about the kitchen, what about the bath? No place to put stuff at all. The copy is perhaps more pretentious than the design: “Those who relish found pebbles and driftwood will adore the designer bathroom, which feels ‘live’ from the pages of one of Sibella’s many design books.” Also I HATE random art works stacked in rows on the floor, which feels, yes, super pretentious, as you can only see the first layer and that only at an awkward angle....it’s not about the art, it’s about the “look”. No thanks.

And FWIW, that white 'TV' looks like a computer/computer display to me. I have a pretty big desktop Mac that we use to watch movies and TV shows, only mine is silver.

Many summer cottages near my house in Ct have kitchens that resemble the one posted. The cottages are small and the kitchens cover the bare necessities.

If that's a vodka bottle on the lower shelf to the right of the sink, then I'd give it a go.

Sure! I love old things so I find it kind of charming. I would never have pegged it as something a designer put together though. Looking at all the photos in the article, it looks more like an eclectic crafter's cottage than something that would sell for over a million bucks. I actually like the bathroom too, but I'm a sucker for old black & white bathrooms.
