I don't usually get my GFs until late summer anyway, but I think Linda said she had some already. It's just frustrating how sometimes they heavily populate a particular area one summer, and they make you wait on pins and needles the next. I think we should sit them down and have a talk about this behavior! LOL! GFs are indeed one of the most beautiful butterflies IMHO. Not only are their uppersides gorgeous, but the undersides are gorgeous as well. Not true of most butterflies whose undersides are often a mousy, leafy color to deter predation. Susan Susan

hoovb, Hmm, that's a good idea! If I plant some border plants along there to cover the edge, i could work... but I am a bit worried about impacting the stability of the whole slab. The HOA replaced the fences recently and you can see, so it may have been their digging the new posts that caused it to sink and break (it was like that when we bought the place in May) so maybe they will repair it for me.

penserosa- I would say they taste like a deep fried zucchini. But since I've only sampled a Brandywine and a Mortgage Lifter my opinion is limited to those two. I'm going to try some of my Green Zebras and Chocolate Stripes to see if there is any difference in taste. cyumickey- As far as I can see any green unripened tomato will work. Not a ripe green tomato. They need to be very firm when frying or it will just turn to mush.

Man-o that looks good! I made my inaugural batch of ice cream last night. Vanilla. It was SO easy! We ate some immediately although it was pretty soft. I actually like it soft so I was happy. It was YUMMY! I put it in the freezer of course and took a taste this morning. It was perfectly firm like REAL ice cream - how exciting is that! I'll scoop some out and take a picture tonight. Next up: Coffee, my favorite ice cream flavor.
