Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning is excellent. It has a silver cap and is not perfumed.

Aquaphor

They all work fine. Just apply liberally and often, don't pick, and don't lick your lips, which will dry them out even further. I'm partial to old-fashioned Chapstick.

Thankfully, I don't lick, just pick at them.

Vaseline

I wear lip gloss every day so rarely have dry or chapped lips. When DH was reffing high school basketball (30 years) during season he ran for a couple of hours 2 or 3 times a week with a whistle in his mouth ;0) Blistex, the product in the squeeze/toothpaste style tube not lipstick style tube, would heal overnight.

That's the one I was trying to describe Rob - heals almost magically quickly.

I use medicated Chapstick but the kind in the little tub, not the lipstick tube. I use it everyday.

Carmex is also very good, put it on before you go to bed, it'll help tame the peeling and heal the skin.

Laneige lip mask.

Hourglass Lip Treatment Oil.

I prefer the chapstick moisturizer... not the normal kind. Besides applying some sort of moisturizer I would also recommend drink more water. You can help such situations from the inside out too.

A lot of them are very good. I read that menthol shouldnt be one of the ingredients as it is drying. I like Burt’s Bees or Blistex. And hat Moni said about staying hydrated.

100% Carmex, it works great! I apply every night and as needed during the day.

I used to use the one Rob recommended during the day, and it does heal very fast.

But I switched to the La Neige Lip Mask at night. Now, I never need healing because I never get to the peeling stage, which I always did before. I live in Maine and spend a lot of time outdoors and winter is just cold and dry. La Neige is expensive but I buy one container, split it into portions, using those little sample pots they give you at Sephora and my kids each have a pot at college and my mom and sister have one too. It still lasts me over a year, because you only use a teeny bit each night.

I think the key, no matter what you use, is to use it often, BEFORE it gets to the dry peeling stage. I use Blistex stick. Have one in my purse, one in the car, by my crochet stuff, and one in each room. Overkill maybe, but works all year here in the northeast.

100% lanolin. Like what new nursing mothers use. It’s natural and time tested. Lanisoh is a popular name brand.

Humidifier.

Avoid any product with glycerin, which pulls water out of the tissue in order to make the surface feel moist, after any water in the product has evaporated.

I found that my lips develop chronic peeling when I eat too many almonds (so easy for me b/c I love to snack on raw almonds) or drink almond milk consistently.

I mix lanolin with some Vaseline to make a smooth balm.

I use one 400 IU vitamin A capsule mixed with a little bit of vitamin E. I use that all winter whenever my skin feels dry. If I remember to do it I don't get cold sores or dry peeling skin. Good luck!

Another vote for the medicated Blistex. I generally stay away from Chapstick-type products as they have alcohol in them which just dries the lips out even more.

I had a bout of this recently, and I fixed it by putting a bit of mentholatum ointment on my lips at bedtime.

Another Burt's Bees fan here. I use it often (4-5 times a day) when I get chapped lips and it heals them quickly.

I agree with Lucille, Vaseline. I currently have it slathered all over my face!
