We have a local nursery that grows many of their own plants and sells 4-packs of perennial seedlings for about $4. It's Twin Gardens, at 40 Elm Ave, Bourne, on Cape Cod, which is not far from the bridges. I have to admit I regret planting some of the perennials I've bought from them over the years, as they grow some invasive forms of normally well-behaved plants. Summer Pastels achillea, the species Agastache foeniculum (Anise Hyssop), true perennial foxglove (Digitalis lutea, I think) are just a few of those. I guess it helps to bring a book on perennials with you - I normally do that anyway. They also carry lots of great herb seedlings and temperennials at very reasonable prices, along with the ubiquitous Proven Winners and some roses and vines. It's a small operation, run by very friendly people, so I like supporting them. If you're coming to the Cape in spring, it's usually well worth the stop - not sure where you're located or if this would be too far to go. Here is a link that might be useful: Twin Gardens

Thank you, that's it! I never would have found it by the title. Originally just skimmed it while out and planned to read it when I got home, but days went by and so did the thread. Definitely want to check out that book. Sounds like it would apply to more than just a kitchen redo. Feel like I'm always weighing something or other and often think life was so much easier when I was a poor grad student when everything I owned fit in a car and decisions were more obvious.... for everything. We had a friend years ago that was a butcher and had some horrific stories from slaughter houses. He always would say that the terrified animal pumped "poison" throughout it's body. He didn't really mean poison but that the animal's body was full of harmful toxins because it did know what was going to happen. We, in turn, would ingest this junk. He says all you have to do is look into the eyes of the animal as it was being lined up and you could tell that the animal could smell death. I am not a vegetarian all-the-way. I do eat some fish and chicken though not often. I love vegetarian food, though. Tofu, meatless patties etc... are favorites of mine.
