Help, revising my warm palette for neutral/cool tones
Comments (9)I've been here three years, haven't decorated a thing.. I always knew I wanted to paint, so I wanted to wait. Once I get the palette toned down some, then I feel I can invest in some worthy decor and art. Knowing I want to paint a cooler palette, do you have ideas for a cooler palette? The blue chair I think is an adverse reaction to all the warm tones and yellow. I couldn't help it. I also moved from a 1400 sf house to a 3800 sf one, so between hating the color and no decor, this is what I have at the moment :) I hope to change it soon as I get paint on the wall!!...See MoreCan a palette comprises of cool and warm hues?
Comments (16)Spend some time with a color wheel. Get a designer to help you.........we're not done with this, just a sampling of combos derived ala Mr. Isaac Newton ! I'd be rethinking a light oak laminate floor. . Just about nothing is worse than yellowy tones in combo with BEIGE. Unless you are fond of old panty hose and nursing homes : ) A pro can help you. A lot. That said.... yellow is warm blue is generally cool and one can pair them very successfully in the right intensity and with ONE as a dominant . Fifty/ fifty generally is horrible. Just imagine how the room below would look with warm beige walls........ Or lousing this one up with POPS of color...... Great rooms are usually clear in their intent. Complementary.......... Analagous........ Triadic.........And there are more : ) Tints - adding white to a pure hue: Shades - adding black to a pure hue: Tones - adding gray to a pure hue:...See MoreCan you use warm white for trims and doors in a cool palette house?
Comments (17)The reason I suggested "Simply White" is because it is just that. It's snowy clean. We see color, white as well, by comparison. SW has replaced my old favorite custom "Jan mix", which was to combine 2/3 BM Decorator White, with 1/3 BM Linen White. My custom formula was so clean and non yellow, non gray....... a local cabinet company used it, and it became the number one selling cabinet white. Not icy, not warm, just CLEAN and fresh. I "get" what the op is asking. But Simply White does what the rest seem unable to do. And that is work and play very nice with virtually ANY wall color., warm or cool, Much like my now abandoned "custom" mix. Thank you Benjamin Moore....See MoreQuestion on paint palette to warm up Agreeable Gray
Comments (3)Hi Robin, no need to repaint a newly painted room! Sherwin Williams has an online tool that you can see all the colors on a wall to try them out, so does Benjamin Moore (just to get ideas.) Think about adding accents in the coppery, orange tone like in this photo. Also add natural elements for some color and life such as real floor plants. Once you add layers back into the room the starkness will disappear! Good luck! I used your agreeable gray for the walls and snowbound for the trim in this photo....See Morecawaps
