Can I see your built-in bookcase/ent centers?
Comments (13)My husband built new bookcases and cabinets on either side of the fireplace and we got ride of the old entertainment center. All of the sound equipment went into the cabinets and the T.V. was moved downstairs (we hardly ever watch T.V. so we don't miss it in the living room anyway). This week's project is putting up all new crown molding in the living room and dining room - I'll post pictures when we're done with that part. It's shaping up nicely. Comments (10)Though I have always been a traditional style girl until recently, I don't think either one of your possible projects go with the study. IMHO they would stick out, and not in a good way. Though I LOVE your shelf a lot, it just doesn't work for the room at all. Cute cabinet, but not so much for the room. The room is very cohesive as it sits now. How about some nice shelves on the back wall? Just a thought to ponder. Do you think you are wanting to transition to a new style in the whole house? I was always traditional until the last 2 years and now I lean mostly to modern/contemporary. Perhaps your styles are changing and you're trying to take baby steps to test it out. Since the room is so cohesive as it sits now, perhaps trying out a new style in a small bath area, would provide you with a test. You obviously have wonderful decorating talent with how the study looks now....See MoreTop of armoire or bookcase...does it need to be decorated??
Comments (4)Generally I prefer to see the tops of large pieces of furniture left bare. However, there are exceptions! This is (besides being a crappy photo) a floor-to-near-ceiling display cabinet housing my collection of Native American folk art, and while the three pieces on top are very near the ceiling, for me they just work there....See MoreAny pictures of a buffet/bar/desk/bookcase area/all-in-one?
Comments (9)Crown Point has some nice inspiration pictures...see anything there huango? I think I'm way far off in coming up with what I want. I do have time as we won't start until spring or summer on phase 2. I have over six feet to work with and know I want it to look sort of furniture like while blending with the kitchen. The wall backs up to a 2nd bath so I will be able to have a small sink off to side. I know I want a bank of drawers on base middle for extra kitchen storage. There needs to be a place for all the wine & cocktail glasses & liquer for friends. I would like a small beverage frig but don't want it to show. Small drawers under upper cabs would be nice for little things like wine keys, need mirrors somewhere...hmm writing this all out in public is giving me a handle....See Morestscsf
