Comments (81)Great thread! For cleaning -- mix of alcohol and water with a bit of lavender oil --got this from CatMom on Kitchens -- works well for stainless Also like Caldrea Basil Blue Sage --cleaner, dish soap, anything they make with this scent. Also like the old fashioned scent balls -- Aura cacia and others sell it -- because you can use pure oils. For my face: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant -- it is expensive for what you get but it really does seem to make a difference. Tretinoin-- just the plain generic stuff -- and also some of the products from Skin Laboratory -- such as salicylic acid -- Shu Uemura eye shadow -- but they discontinued some of the best colors...See MoreHey - Mr. I wish I could show you guys my cleaning aisle! Comments (17)Ack! dlm, I forgot to post back. First, my gray is a Dove Gray (light). In darker areas it's a mid-level, maybe a battleship gray? Charlie's soap powder form, diluted in water, scrubbed, let it sit, scrubbed again, wiped. Probably got it up to 60%. Then I did a different section with diluted Charlie's soap and Oxyclean scrubbed in on top of that. Let sit maybe 20 min, scrubbed, 'rinsed'. Much better. Not 100% like the light Dove gray at outer perimeters of floor, but easily 80 to 85%. Close enough you have to really be staring at it to see the difference. (Can't get a pic to show it well, shadows from vanity are throwing off grout.) So I'll clean it good that way & immediately seal, and I'll be happy. :) If you want to check it out, I don't know how close this is to you, but if I'm downtown & need some CS I get it Be By Baby (Wrigleyville area). Easy metered parking on side street (I always find a spot - a miracle!). Or you can go to CS website, maybe there's a dealer near you. (Not me, it's either downtown or mail.) I also get through Amazon. Free super saver shipping + $11.50 or so is a good price. (Think it's about $14 at Be By Baby). I wasn't impressed with their bottled spot treatment. For the price I just put a scoop (abt 1TB) of powder in a spray bottle, make my own, works just as well....See MoreDolode's Finished White Kitchen Pics
Comments (42)Thynes...I'm so glad you recognize the Robert Allen fabric because it was in your pictures of your beautiful kitchen that I first fell in love with that fabric! I was thrilled when I saw that they had the same print in my color pallet. Do you also recognize the range hood? I think you did the same one also. Nap101...you pointed out the two things that gave me the most concern. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked the doors and the drawers different, but I am now really glad that we did it that way. And the pulls on the large drawers I thought might be too big after they got installed but those have grown on me also. And thanks again to all those who have made such nice comments. Those of you who have posted a finished kitchen know how exciting and rewarding it is to have people make such lovely comments about your hard work. And it's so fun to get a comment from someone you've been reading for months!...See MoreLet's talk appliance color
Comments (9)I have the same color scheme, basically, and I used stainless appliances. That said, my "stainless" oven is mostly black-appearing windows and the induction cooktop is also black ceram. I think black could be lovely. Does black have fewer fingerprint issues? Also, aren't there some stainless finishes that purport to resist fingerprints? I have a friend with a lovely kitchen, very dark cherry cabs, dark black-green granite. She used black appliances, and it is very elegant. Except the frig, which is absolutely enormous - at least 48" if not wider. That she made stainless because she thought that huge expanse of black might be too much. I use Easy Off Stainless Cleaner, which is one of those oily ones. I like it. Someone on here swears by an alcohol and water spray, and I think that sounds like great idea. Also note that an article on Houzz this week said that if you are planning to sell your house, you'll most likely sell to someone younger, and the younger generation practically insists on stainless. I'm not asserting the truth of this, just quoting....See More- 6 years ago
