Suggestions for 36' colored range with griddle-Search not woking
Comments (7)Viking also offers colours, although I don't think nearly as much choice as Bluestar. Hey, just to note. I was at the Bluestar "Canadian launch" demo in Toronto in the spring and a guy from Bluestar said that the 190 colours are standard FREE colours(although I think many have reported dealers upcharging for this), and that they would do any custom colour you liked at additional cost. I am only stating available options, not endorsing Viking over Bluestar. In fact, if pressed to endorse one over the other, I would go with Bluestar. I used to have a 30" Viking (no grill or griddle) which I was very pleased with overall and had no repair issues with. I currently have a Bluestar 48" with grill and griddle, and I do have to admit, the burner performance blows the Viking away. Which brand would I buy if I was buying again today? Bluestar hands down. It is probably the only residential range you can truly wok properly on, except for the few ranges that offer a high powered "wok burner", but I think that is usually in the centre of the unit, and not sure if there are any option with that plus a griddle. Although I really did enjoy my Viking and was trouble free to boot. Oh ya, one more personal recommendation. If going with a Viking, get the open burner. I did this test, and I think anyone considering a Viking should do the test as well. If you have available an open burner and closed burner Viking. Take a medium sized pot, put it on the open burner at full power and see how far the flame shoots out the side of the vessle. Then do the same for the closed burner. I noticed a difference between the two. But in my experience, there is no round burner with burner cap type design that can rival the even heat distribution of the "ported right on top" star burner configuration that Bluestar gives. Anyway, thought I would at least give you a second option :) Good luck, and let us know what you decide....See MoreIn search of the perfect decorative pillow
Comments (19)Here's what I do...I go to the ARC Thrift store and buy pillows with feather inserts with labels like Pottery Barn or Ethan Allen. Then go on Ebay and buy zippered linen pillow covers that look hand painted. A blue heron would be beautiful! When I want to redecorate.... I take the cover off....it can be washed easily...so many benefits..they have fleur de lis....or other works of art! One of many covers offered...See MoreTile brands - suggestions for my search
Comments (4)What you are going to find is there are identical tiles sold under different labels. There are major tile mugs that allow rebranding. Tile Bar has some nice products and great customer service although you probably can find local under different brand. First thing you should do is ask your tile installer. This eliminates any its the tile's fault nonsense. When picking a tile a name brand to some degree can be important but make sure the tile itself fits your projects needs. This means the size is available and related tiles are available where needed. A lot of tile mugs are simply selling field tile and not getting involved in related tiles needed to complete the job....See MoreBought a new house, in search of suggestions!
Comments (17)Hi Stephanie congrats on your home. We have a "coastal vibe" really is open to interpretation. To some that means relaxed white furnishings and to others it means kitchy beach signs everywhere in bright colors . The main things to ask is how much change are you willing to make? The flooring looks like manufactured hardwood. Or possibly even wood looking tile? Hard to tell by photos. Questions -Will you be pulling all of the existing flooring up? - Are counter tops staying? - Are you changing cabinets? New? Painting existing? - Is adding Character in the budget? By this I mean adding Casing to windows, adding moulding for interest and character. - Are any of the paint colors staying? - What colors do you want to see used in the home? Without knowing these answers I can jump in blindly and say I would replace all the flooring with a light wood. I would paint the cabinets. I would likely do blue but that scares people so at the very least I would do white perimeter and blue island and by blue I mean a lighter French blue. Before I started the paint however I would do some finish carpentry on the back side of the island and cover up the drywall with wood moulding to be painted out along with the cabinets. The hardware doesn't bother me. I would drop in pendent lighting over the island. I would bring in two barstools (3 is too crowded) in a coastal vibe. Ultimately I would change out the granite to a white quartz and bring in a light blue backsplash. In the kitchen eating area I would Look into extending the bottom cabinets/counter the length of the wall. This of course would be done before paint and counter so they look like they always existed there. This would bump up you kitchen storage greatly. But if that isnt in the budget then I would at the very least get a long sideboard/buffet to go there. Filling as much of the space as I could. For lighting I would think about a great beaded or Capiz shell chandelier to tie into your coastal feel. Id drop that in over a round table with some rattan chairs. On the window I would axe the wood blinds and I would bring in woven shades. I would dress them with simple white drapery panels on rings and raise the height to as close to the ceiling as possible. No tie backs. That looks dated. Moving into the family room the fireplace looks modern. I would clad it in wood moulding and add a mantel. I don't think the accent wall is necessary but it doesn't look bad. I would instead carry the moulding on the fireplace across that entire wall and keep that painted white. Paint on the other walls I would choose a light neutral color. Now that all your floors are wood I would bring in some great area rugs. Rugs in family room and entry for sure. In the entry I would paint the door a great color blue. I mean the interior side. It looks like you may have room under that window for a small entry table. Again blinds would go and I would do woven. Instead of a mirror in that bump in I would choose a great piece of art to go there. On the ledge above the door , if possible I would remove it all together. If it has to stay don't put anything on it. No reason to bring attention to a useless architectural feature. But if you happen to be able to remove it at the same time I would have them drywall that bump in where the mirror is. I can say all that but without seeing your existing furnishings there are no specific recommendations I can make for chandeliers etc as they may not work well with what you have....See MoreLibby Miller
