Can you suggest a green paint for this family room?
Comments (24)Thanks for doing that Chloe! The first one is what I had in mind. I think something that says blue/gray/green (in that order) would work. Remember, it does not have to match the color in your carpet. Your eye will make up the difference. A place to start would be 689 Rhine River, 696 Pleasant Valley and things right around that neighborhood. If they're too vivid for you, jump to Quiet Moments 1563 and Gray Wisp 1570 and their neighbors....See MoreIn search of brown/blue pillow for family room
Comments (5)I agree with Barnes Custom Builders. You have a lot of brown going on in the room already, and having rug, art, and cushions all in brown and blue will be overwhelming and too "matchy matchy". I'd look for blue patterned/textured cushions, maybe on Etsy. I'd even consider adding a second, complementary shade of blue. I'd also think about adding a table lamp with some blue, or a brass (not silver or chrome or black finish) floor lamp, to add some warmth to the room....See MoreFamily Room Area Rug, Coffee Table, Pillows & Lighting
Comments (8)Replace the torchiere with a floor light that direct some light down. Move the sectional away from the windows Do not swag your drapery panels Replace the wall art with a size more appropriate for the space Lower the TV Get a longer media cabinet or one that floats on the wall Move the orange lounge chair out from the corner Add an accent table next to the lounge chair Provide a flexible coffee table, maybe one that lifts up if necessary Select an indoor outdoor light colored rug to brighten the area that can withstand kid usage....See MoreFinish my Family Room Please
Comments (5)First, consider your use of the space. What do you do here and what do you need to do it? Do you want to separate the space into a TV watching zone and play area? Draw out your space on paper to scale and play around with the furniture layout if you don't find it optimal. At first glance, my thought was remove everything from the mantel and the bookcase between the windows. As maddielee said, clearing the surfaces of decorative elements will help "tidy up" the space quickly. Hang a piece of large-enough art above that bookcase to draw the eye up and around the room. What about a large storage ottoman in a sturdy material as a "coffee table"? Something (with round edges, of course) to store toys and princess dresses. What does the anchored bookcase hold? If it has open shelves, perhaps you can use it for nice baskets that store toys....See MoreMy House
