Please help me find a reasonably priced under counter freezer
Comments (4)Hi Xedos and thanks for your reply. Too bad about the Bosch. It seems those in the UK want small undercounter freezers more than North Americans. I really don't want an under counter freezer loaded with features. I would be happy with a quiet one that had a door that opened into sturdy shelves that I could put bins on to slide out. I would prefer bins to be included, but would be content without. I don't want an ice maker or any bells and whistles, and I wasn't asking for fancy drawers. I don't need rock bottom price for this small freezer space, just not something that costs a few thousand or more. I may just get the Summit one even if the reviews on these boards are iffy. Maybe I could put in extra insulation to damped any sound. There just doesn't seem to be much choice in under counter freezers. Unless, I am missing one? Comments (3)I don't have a miele, but I did have a FL under the counter for twenty years and, yes, it did give me a lot of very useful flexible space. And I had no problem with it being at that level. After we moved I inherited a TL which recently quit. I replaced it with a FL and almost talked myself into thinking I would need a pedestal at my advancing age. Fortunately Wa8b talked me out of it. That said, your Miele looks to be an awesome machine, but at 39 inches high (and more, adding the thickness of a counter)it will be very high for a regular counter. Your 5 and 6 year olds would need to sit on bar stools at the least. And you'd have to get very creative to deal with the controls access issue....See MoreDoes anyone keep their veggies in an under the counter refrig?
Comments (6)Yes, we have an E-lux undercounter drawers fridge claiming to have 6 cu. ft. Absolutely love it. I do put extra produce there. I bought it mainly for dh's cokes and I know that is a big splurge but he was always getting in my way digging his cokes out of the old miserable side x s. He also often complained that his cokes weren't cold enough and would fiddle with the temp and freeze the lettuce. A huge advantage in our not-large kitchen is that this uc fridge directs traffic away from the main cooking area-I tell guests to get a cold soda and they are out of my way. So it has an opposite effect from what your plan is. But you will love it for having produce near your sink. Too bad that you can't get the main fridge closer. Only downside is that it was $2000. Our main fridge was around $1500-1600. It's quiet 99.9% of the time. Cold. Capacious. Perfect....See MoreDoes anyone like having their ovens under the counter?
Comments (41)Writersblock asked: "studio460, did you get the Datid or the Mumsig oven? How do you like it?" Mumsig (which is really made by Whirlpool) in stainless steel (which ain't all that "stain"-less). Bought it over a year ago, before the remodel was actually underway. But, I'm dying to trade it out for the new Ikea Framtid in black that Ikea has in its 2010 catalog, just for its new, super-mod cosmetic treatment (it's actually the same exact oven)! I think the Framtid is ultra-modern-chic with just the right hint of retro (the round analog clock)! Anyway, the oven I have is very functional. Cooks well. I use the convection settings a lot. Kinda small (it's only a 24" oven), but that's what we wanted--small. But, aside from no self-cleaning feature (not available from Ikea in a 24" oven), it looks and works great!...See Moreartistsharonva
