It should also be mentioned that miniature (or any kind of) roses do not take well to being grown inside, period. You would join the very, very long list of people, many of whom might be much more experienced than you, who fail with this plant once it's brought inside. It can be done, absolutely, but it takes some knowledge of just what these plants need and how to provide it, inside. Most roses are fully deciduous plants, or want to be. They prefer a cool (or even cold), dormant period after their leaves drop. Just as any deciduous plant would do, they suffer and complain when their natural cycle is completely disrupted. The watering of any indoor plant needs to be done 'as needed' rather than by a calendar schedule. Most people use their fingers to test the dampness of the soil under the surface. You can also use a small wooden dowel rod...if it comes out damp after being inserted, don't water. Many people learn to tell by simply lifting the container and judging the need for a good watering by the weight. That takes experience. It's imperative that the potting medium be one that drains rapidly so that you can water thoroughly every time, no little sips. Watering frequency depends upon: the type of plant, size of plant in relationship to the pot, type of potting medium, time of year, temperature and relative humidity of the room, duration and quality of light, and type of container, just to name some of the factors. Not only did the temperatures change, but so did the duration and quality of light. Seasonal differences are extremely meaningful to plants. Your rose may have been able to languish on the window sill in the summer, but once fall came around, it was simply unable to even do that anymore. No amount of fungicide of any kind can 'fix' this kind of problem. Roses like plenty of direct sunlight. You cannot provide that, even on the sunniest window sill. Luckily, there are artificial lighting kits and lamps for those of us who wish to grow those kinds of plants needing more light than can be found inside the home.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your earlier post. This one may not directly connect with your posts either, but it is information that bears directly on registered names. There are two different things often referred to as "registered". They are quite different and can lead to confusion if not carefully defined. The registration to which I was referring was registering a rose with the International Cultivar Registration Authority - Rosa, which is the American Rose Society. This registration puts the rose in the historical record for roses internationally. It also makes sure no other rose can be registered using the same name. However, it has no control over sales names. Roses are often registered using their code name, or varietal denomination, and their sales names are just listed as synonyms. Thus Veterans' Honor (aka City of Newcastle Bicentennary, Five Roses Rose, and Lady in Red) is registered as Jacopper. The second registration is acquiring a registered trademark for the name. This is the source of the î symbol following names. This comes from the government and supposedly insures that no one else can sell a different rose using the registered trademark name. However, it does not keep the company that trademarked the name from using it for more than one rose. Poulsen, Kordes and others spend a fair amount of time and money registering names with the European trademark authority, and they feel they need to use them often to get the benefit from it. Thus they both do sell more than one rose using the same trademarked name at the same time. I am not aware of any cases where they used more than one trademarked name for the same rose, although I suppose it is possible. Adding confusion to the situation, some companies also trademark the collection names. Thus you could have a rose with a trademarked name being sold in a collection that also has a trademarked name. They could sell the same rose with the trademarked name in more than one collection with a trademarked collection name, or they could sell two roses using the same trademarked name - one in each collection. But no one else can use any of these trademarked names. Finally, the rules say if you register a rose with the ICRA-R, you cannot trademark that registered name. Or if you trademark a name with the government, you cannot use that name to register the rose with the ICRA-R. Life would certainly be easier for all of us if each hybridizer would only use each name once, and no one would try to use a name someone else already used. However, that isn't the world we live in.

YOU HAVE TO REPOT THE PLANT!, the reason why the plant is dying is because the plant was mass produced to be used for a few days before dying in that tiny little pot. This is likely due to the immense root crowding and root rot that can occur rapidly when you keep it indoors and overwater it. Just a general tip for future references, always repot miniature rose immediately because the neglect in grocery stores would have resulted in some root rot which can spread rapidly in the indoors environment. During the winter, the water will not evaporate from the pot as fast, and usually due to over watering, will result in a too damp environment for the roots which encourages the rot (since it is cutting of the O2 the roots need). Repotting helps aerate the roots and free it from being root bound. Remember to cut off any dead roots, and shake most of the old soil off. You can grow miniature roses indoors as long as it is repotted in fresh soil, preferable in a terracotta pot, and there is sufficient humidity (can use a spray bottle), sunlight (6= hours), and a clean environment (to decrease the risk of pest). Like what the others said, they will do better outside. Forgot to mention, the rose is in shock when you get it since it has suddenly been moved to changing environments away from its ideal greenhouse environment which also contributes to the blooms dying. Also when repotting, there may be more then one plant so try to separate them to encourage less competition. Even 12 x 12 was way too small, in Southern California. Seil is right, too. "Miniature" means the bloom, not the plant. How big the plant will want to get depends upon the variety. Most of Ralph Moore's roses had a nice compact habit. Some of the Poulsen "pot plants" -- the sort that often turn up at Supermarkets -- seem to be like that, too. Miniatures popular for exhibition grow long stems, and make tall plants. I have seen 'Jean Keneally' in the ground more than 6-feet tall.
