Looking for a shiplap modern looking bed...
Comments (5)Thank you Beverly, I will go to Baer's to check it out! I am torn because I am doing a contemporary look throughout the home, but a bit more transitional in the bedroom. I love the look of shiplap and had my living room linear fireplace surround clad in shiplap, but most shiplap beds are more coastal and beachy and not as modern looking as I would like. This is the master closet door in my bedroom -- modern barn slider. This is the living room electric liner fireplace downstairs (I'm in Miami). I am wanting a reclaimed wood mantel above it, and the TV will be above the mantel....See MoreLooking for a modern look-alike accent chair
Comments (15)@Jenn Powers Those are nice looking alternatives. Thanks for sharing. I hope not to sound like a furniture snob, but... I happen to have a fear of West Elm quality and have had multiple bad experiences with Room & Board. Perhaps my hesitation with West Elm is unjustified - haven't actually purchased from them - but I've seen some shoddy construction on pieces in their stores. On the other hand, I've made many purchases from Room & Board over the years. All had gone well until the last couple of years when my past 3 purchases had to be returned because of quality issues. So I've written them off at this point....See MorePlease, help me to add some colors! ❤️
Comments (9)I wouldn't spend any money on putting covers on rental furniture. Save your money for when you buy your own house. Are you allowed to put nails in the walls? Maybe command hooks? Spend money on art that you can take with you and use in your next home. Buy some table lamps and floor lamps to brighten up the space. Maybe brighter bulbs in the ceiling light fixtures....See MoreThis free Medium BLUE carpet So scared Help with modernness??
Comments (26)Ahhhhh, to have lots of resources, options and time to renovate your home as you'd really like to do it. Very few of us have that. Most of us have to play the hand we're dealt and it ain't all aces. Advice from professional designers is wonderful! I follow many of them because I learn so much. But...there is a whole segment of the population in the US who have friends and family who do all kinds of work on the side such as installing carpet taken from someone else's home. As an example, I know a wonderful family who purchased a house severely damaged by fire. They cobbled together an entire community of family and friends who rebuilt the entire house at a very high quality and very low price. These were folks who mostly had day jobs doing the exact same paid work for someone else but did the work as a favor to their community. Offering options, alternative ideas and cautions to be aware of is great. I just wish this community lived a little more in the real world where sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do....See MoreBrittney
