I like the look. In the photos the legs of the chairs look great with the table. You can scotch guard the upholstery for kid protection. If you do end up deciding on a rug, I used to use those felt back vinyl tableclothes as dropclothes under my kids. They are easy to shake off and fold up between uses, can pop in the wash easily, and are cheap to replace if they tear.

Does it look like wood? My 1980s table top looks like wood but is actually something like Formica. They are still made like that, but I can usually tell at quite a distance that the top is not real wood. Mine looks a lot more realistic than anything I have seen since I started to look for a replacement. We have never had to baby our table so I am a bit apprehensive of buying an all wood replacement. My cabinetmaker said I could get a table, find a matching realistic sheet of laminate/Formica, and have him put that on top of the wood.

I think a black table with black chairs would be too much. Contrast is good. What size space do you have for the table? It’s hard to tell from the pic. Are you looking for round or rectangular?

not just the floors look yellow - everything kind of does perhaps because these walls are yellow! Can you paint them? I think going a neutral color on the walls would be a good place to start - like a very light taupe or greige look at Sherwin Williams Repose Gray or Mindful Gray. A bench along the wall under the kitchen windows would better allow for a rectangular table with chairs on the opposite side.I think a medium to med/dk wood would add nice contrast in the kitchen, but I wouldn’t go espresso dark. The drapery rods are hung too low and since you don’t have any drapes hung on L windows either remove everything or adjust the rods higher and hang matching drapes from all rods. I think LR rug will be too small for under dining table also. I’ll find some table/chair/bench options for you.
