Comments (3)Research Pear Scab and Fabraea Leaf Spot. Examine your tree and see if one of these diseases may be what you have. Not knowing what type of pear tree, European or Asian, it is harder to decide what you may have....See MoreYoung grapefruit tree from seed, light green/yellow leaves ??
Comments (5)I also have a grapefruit tree that one of my children grew from seed when he was a small boy. He is now 16 years old! It is in a pot, and is a beautiful little tree. The guy at the nursery I frequent told me it will probably never bear fruit. It is not because it is in a pot, my orange and lemon trees in pots bear fruit. I thought maybe it had something to do with hybridization. It is also the favorite larval food of all my citrus trees for the Swallowtail butterflies, so I will keep it!...See MoreWhy my young Asian pear doesn't grow?
Comments (3)I can only say that mine seems to be very slow, compared to the rest of my 26 fruit trees. That fertilizer should be what you need but don't expect it to suddenly grow like a monster. I would expect some shoots to pop up. You might also try tipping the branches. That is, pruning the last several inches of a branch off to encourage branching. Fingers crossed you see some improvement! As an aside, we are taught to build up a layer of mulch at the base of the tree, covering the dirt up to the drip edge of the leaves. This keeps down weeds, cools the dirt where fine feeder roots are, keeps the soil moist longer, and as it breaks down, will feed the tree. It's not a must but for us in the hot inland deserts (It was 108 and stormy yesterday), anything helps....See MoreWilted, Yellowing Leaves on Young (1 yr?) old trees
Comments (5)Same issue here recently with less than 6 month old from seed. It has been thriving. Nothing has change except possibly temperature as it is getting a little cooler. I have multiple trees from seeds and only one suffering from this issue and all but top layer leaves are wilted and brown shriveled up. I think about more than a month ago I started to add Jobe's 4-10-5 tropical fruit fertilizer pellets I think. I added probably 4-5 small pellets to soil and water. They are all in 1 gallon milk carton square paper/wax container with holes on bottom as I like to reuse/recycle. Trunk seems health and still showing grow as I can see that leaves on top still sprouting. I was worried about over watering so has stopped. They are under filter light. Hoping experts can give me some ideas on stopping issue. Thanks!...See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
