Tall asymmetrical ceilings and awkward living room layout
Comments (9)You have lots of nice things in your space. I agree that the sign above the fireplace needs to be replaced. I would ignore the tall walls and concentrate on the people space. Floor and table lamps would be the easiest way to ground the space and help break up all the horizontal lines. You can put a console table on the short wall, with a lamp, vases or baskets to add some texture and color. Do you have curtain panels on the windows? That will help make the space look cozier as well....See MoreHelp! My living room looks boring!
Comments (14)Wall art and a staged coffee table are the only things you need. I like your uncluttered space. I like your rug, your drapes, floor plant, couch, pillows, wall shelves..... Browns, cream and relaxing blues- How much vibrancy do you want in this space? Bold or serene? Wall art is personal and very difficult to suggest for another. You could DIY an abstract or enlarge 2 related photos and hang side by side over the couch. Frame them with blue.mat board. A larger painting like this one is an easy DIY- acrylic, which is easy to paint over should you want to add different colors to your room. Give your art a frame by using wood trim ,to the sides of the canvas :https://www.homedepot.com/p/Alexandria-Moulding-WM-267-1-4-in-x-1-3-8-in-x-96-in-Pine-Lattice-Moulding-0W267-20096C/205917028?mtc=Shopping-B-F_D30-G-D30-30_20_MOULDINGS-Generic-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA-&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D30-G-D30-30_20_MOULDINGS-Generic-NA-Feed-PLA-NA-NA--71700000032209454-58700003833955726-92700049583831712&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIisfy5PzH6AIVmK_sCh3UPwoOEAQYDCABEgInOfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds You could go bold color, but high contrast color may make your space feel smaller Here is a series of same motif pics in same color palette... Comments (4)The space needs a rug & better lighting. The console table on the back wall is too small in scale for the wall. The quality of light from the fan is not acceptable ambient light. It doesn't do anything to enhance the appearance of your room. IMO the brown console table should not be placed between the kitchen and the sectional. Maybe it would be better to replace the white console with the brown console so you could have a location for some better lamps. I'll just mention that your TV is mounted too high on the wall. Drapery panels would be a softer solution than vertical blinds....See MoreNeed help with wall to left of fireplace- living room decor
Comments (20)It is a 'real' fireplace..it just has a gas starter which are SOOOO nice for eliminating the messy of getting a wood fire started!! The bottom line is in a room with a fireplace and a TV the seating needs to face both for the room to be used to its fullest. Fireplace/TV side by side is the most aesthetically pleasing positioning. BUT the OP doesn't have that option anymore. When that TV dies I would consider putting a new smaller one to one side or the other. For now a shelf makes the most sense to me. A random light fixture for no purpose seems like a missed opportunity for storage. The added COLOR by Celery, to that space is my personal favorite suggestion. I do not understand half the seating in the room with it's back to the TV/fireplace. This room gives the impression most of the TV watching happens in the kitchen/dining area, Why else the need for such a huge TV with little seating in the actual room?...See Morenjmomma
