Breakfast Nook needs a new look
Comments (5)Hello - a built in desk with kitchen cabinets sounds good. We eat ALL our meals at that table, and even when the kids are home we eat at that table. We only use the dining room when we have company. Yes that is my pantry closet. It is full, and is used ALOT!! Couldn't do without it. The room behind is the family room, some of you know that i've just gotten new furniture (that's another story!) The width of this area is 11 feet from wall to sliding doors and about 7 feet from the side wall to the pantry closet wall. I think that maybe teacats idea of using vertical space is a good one. So would I just go to a place that sells cabinets?...See MoreHow did you do crown moulding in kitchen & breakfast nook area?
Comments (3)here is the pics of how it's set-up today. breakfast nook today--one upper cherry cabinet w/crown will go to the right. do we extend the cherry crown all the way across the ceiling above the sink , to the upper cabinets to the far left? see pic of our OLD kitchen, which butts up right next to breakfast nook should we install the cherry crown above the door, thinking this might look too heavy though? here is the floor plan...See MoreBay window breakfast nook, trying to take out table
Comments (3)Great ideas. At first I was thinking, no, I can't do a bench because I really need some seating for the kids to eat breakfast, etc, and I do not want a table by the bench. But then I looked at Igloochic's kitchen and it is great! I am going to measure and see if I can make a bigger island (maybe just a bigger countertop with overhang) and put in a bench or chair....See MoreNeed Help - Expanding Kitchen into Breakfast Nook with bay window
Comments (9)eliminate the peninsula /eliminate the diag sink / eliminate double ovens-get a range w a good hood instead of cooktop. Construct a U kitchen with your three walls and w the changes it should work better. You have over 10 ft across...so 5 or 6 feet of aisle. there is no reason why you can't get a U kitchen to work for two cooks. Eliminating the bay window seems unnecessary. You need lighter walls..lighter counters.. w blinds closed and only one window. You'll get better task lighting as part of a redo. Good ceiling feature also: so start with calculation of budget, as new appliances and new everything are part of a good plan. You have space....See MoreAdam
