I Think I Picked the Backsplash - How High Should it Go?
Comments (21)Check the return policy at the tile store. they'll usually take back complete boxes, especially if you set it up at the time of sale. Better to get them all at once and know that they match. Though you really should open all boxes to check that there isn't color variation that needs to be mixed in. Don't count on tiles from two shipments matching!! Even such not so colored glass. You've been having a trend, late in the game, to cluttering up that wall. I have to believe it's for a reason. Is it because you really want a burst of color and pattern? Or is it because you've been living so long with the white blankness of it all? And the white, blankness of all that snow! I think with the tile all the way up, and the variations in the tile, the small format, and the grout, there's going to be a heck of a lot of texture and interest and sparkle on that wall. Rather than cluttering up the wall, I'd suggest laying in a supply of interesting window shades that you can change with the season. You can put bright brocades up in the winter, and cool bamboo in the summer. Blonde lace in the spring and earth tone herringbone in the Fall....See MoreI need help with backsplash tile mistake.
Comments (22)Thanks. I talked to the guy giving me the bed and he said you install the counter first so you can securely attach it to the wall which I guess makes sense LOL. He's a friend's nephew and he's a master Carpenter. And he was remarking on what an excellent job the plaster repair person did on my plaster ceiling and he noticed what a great job that I did on installing my doors airtight so it seems like he has a pretty good attention to detail and she's used him to redo many of her many many properties. I do have a backup person though that is meticulous but not working as a tile setter. is a social worker......See MoreSoffit beams in new build - I think I/builder made a mistake
Comments (52)Still haven’t decided. This is what it looks like currently with paint and all trim. It is growing on me. I imagine once backsplash and flooring and pendant lights are in, I won’t notice it as much. But I don’t want to regret not having him fix it forever. Builder has offered to move soffit back to be flush with cabinets and we will put a piece of flat trim at cabinet and soffit joint. He did mention being concerned with the possibility of damaging cabinets in the process. He also said he would remove soffit altogether if we want. Again the only concern being the cabinets potentially being damaged. I have to decide soon....See MoreI think I picked a backsplash. Thoughts?
Comments (34)I don't think the gray looks right with your other white, black, and brown colors. Have you considered a softly patterned black and white tile for the back splash? That would keep it neutral and still allow you to decorate in whatever colors you choose. Your other finishes are simple enough that a pattern could be nice. Another option to keep it simpler would be white tiles, in any shape, but with black grout to tie in with your countertops....See MoreCristina L
