eye love begonias Sorry I didn't respond earlier to your reply. I love your versicolor (one day I will find one) but I have Wanda which is supposed to be very similar. As for Georgia Tasker and Green Dreams I just uploaded the best pictures I could find of them. The problem with a lot of my pictures is I don't name them at times other than begonia or pix so it is difficult going through 50,000+ pictures (digital is great but at times it is overwhelming). I see now about your Lucerna. I thought you were scrapping one you had and replacing it with a healthy one. LBM will drop all its leaves if it dries out - often to the point where it looks like it is going to die but then you water it well and it will respond nicely and ... repeat. I think it is a common trait of the UJR (upright jointed rhizomes). Well worth growing though. Try Connee Boswell if you can find it. Janet Brown is another great UJR. Taconite is a great UJR (at least I think it is in that category) with very large, very dark leaves (almost black). Anyway I think UJRs need more water than other begonias. PH is a giant so have a very good space for it in winter. I had one in a 18 inch pot and in 3 months it went from a 12 inch plant to nearly 4 feet and a spread over two feet. Very easy to grow outdoors but it was too difficult for me to keep in winter - not enough light for such a giant I suppose. Maybe one day I will try it again.

That is weird Kyle. Rhizomatous (which rexes are of this type) are fairly easy. Are you overwatering them? Several of mine took a turn south due to the week I was at the convention in New Orleans. Most are still viable and some are putting out new leaves. These are the smallest pots and on top shelves. I've noticed over the years that plants I put on top shelves (begonias) often do worse than the ones on middle and lower shelves. I can only think that it must be warmer (heat rises) and causes issues. The other thing is not seeing as well since I could just be watering blind unless I take the tray down (I do that in one room - 9 trays in all that is a bit more work than I like). These photos are from March 12 as I have only taken a few photos of cuttings after that. I even got Escargot through winter this year! YAY! My 3 red rexes have never looked this good until I cut back on watering this winter. This big pot was started in September from 3 inch pots. 3 rexes, 1 U647, and Bashful Bandit in the middle. Sophie plants that I started over the previous winter and gave away several. Mary Bucholtz in the back, manicata in front plus several others. A Walmart or Lowe's rex a tray of small potted rhizos and rexes Teen Angel Miniperba (small cane), rabbit's foot fern, watermelon Peperomia, and goegoensis.

HOWDY....I GOT IT!!! Patience IS the key! I wrote one nursery, asking if they had B. luxurians. Someone from the nursery wrote back, saying they'd have more in a wk or two. Well, a wk or two came and went..no Begonia luxurians.. Weeks passed, and still no luxurrians. I gave up. Today, I got online, and thought to check one more time. Lo and Behold! More in stock. I purchased two. lol. BTW, I never got around sowing the seeds. I've been so busy with house plants, outside gardening, and household cleaning, I got side-tracked.. Before sowing, I wanted to be free of worries. Relaxed. Woe, if you're still around...how are your seedlings doing and what percentage germinated? H, your Rexes are gorgeous. Wow.
