heavy bar stools+new wood floors=anxiety
Comments (6)After refinishing our floor I had the same thought (particularly after paying the bill for the refinishing), I don't want to have to do this again any time soon... I bought the Slip Stick "sliders" for my barstools, they replace the original nylon pads and screw in (but also have adhesive) so they will stay put. You didn't ask about this, but just as a general FYI, Slip Stick also offers "Grippers" which I put on my sofa and chairs which sit on the wood floors as well, and OHMYGOSH, if only I'd found these before. For years my stuff has slid every time someone sat down on it, even when I had the front feet on rugs --- now everything stays right where I put it. Love this slip stick stuff. I was able to find it at Rocker as well as a local True Value store. I think I even was able to pick it up via Amazon (can you tell I've gone gaga over this stuff???). I never had much luck with felt staying on, have tried the felt bottom cups and gripper cup things from Home Depot and they mostly stayed put while my furniture jumped out of them, I got pretty tired of wrenching my back trying to lift them back into the cups so I gave up. Good luck. Kris...See MoreNeed help with bar stools with light hardwood floor
Comments (12)I've been shopping for counter stools a LOT lately. Something you might like for your elementary boys are indoor/outdoor stools because they'll be so easy to keep clean. For kids, I also really like stools with backs and arms... I have seen kids of all ages fall off stools, so something that contains them a little can't be a bad idea. Look at this gorgeous home I found last night... the stools are under $100 each and you can literally hose them down if they get a little wild with spaghetti. :) The dark color will provide a nice contrast with the lighter neutrals you have going on, and will tie-in with the dark colors in your granite....See MoreQuestions for the interior design pros...Bar Stool Help Needed!
Comments (3)Hi Karen! Thanks for your question. We have 43” clearance from the edge of the island top to the fridge. That msmt does not include the 12” island top over hang. When the fridge door is open we only have 26” from door to the edge of the island top. Hope that makes sense! Do you think we should just do a backless swivel stool? I found some at RH but my other half isn’t too thrilled with the industrial look?!?!...See MoreThis kitchen need help!
Comments (5)My first order of business if it were mine would be addressing the four blank panels. My DH loves photography as one of his many hobbies. For us, I would pick a theme and frame four large prints to personalize those spaces. I am reminded of waterfalls he has photographed. He would love to cook (another hobby!) surrounded by the pictures of rocks, splashing water, and greenery. Maybe we would pick from our travels, so four favorites might include bison in Yellowstone, the condor flying over the Grand Canyon, sea life in a reef in Florid Keys, and the American bald eagle over the Maine coast. Maybe he would decide to show his pictures of food from the markets we visited in London, in Paris, in Rome, and in our local market. (Oh, the artichokes, the strawberries, the tables of mushrooms!). Maybe we would pick family pictures of meals shared. Maybe we would change the pictures on a regular basis, Personalize your house for you. Surround yourself with happiness....See MoreAnne Duke
