Wandering Stitchers 10/06
Comments (8)The quilt is cute! I didn't realize you were making it before you got there. It's a good thing my daughter and I didn't come. We realized last night the rash she has is shingles. We are on our way to urgent care now. Have fun!...See MoreWandering Stitchers 10/8
Comments (17)I'm sorry I don't remember the pattern name. I put the blocks together over 10 years ago, just finishing the decorative stitches and arranging and sewing blocks together at the retreat. I will tell you that the original pattern was sectioned into 8 pieces. It called for 8 different fabrics so that each block had 1 piece of each of the eight fabrics in a different location on the block. I made 16 blocks, switching up several of the fabrics because I wanted a larger quilt. I remember stacking all 8 fabric squares and cutting through them all simultaneously on the lines to create the pieces for the blocks. You could probably design your own square using the same method. Each finished square measured about 17" x 17". Because the pieces were cut apart without a seam allowance and then seamed together, the blocks had irregular edges and had to be squared up before sewing together. Here's a pic of one block. I want to say I started with 20" squares of each fabric. Several of the fabrics were hand dyed by my girlfriend, others were Joann batiks. If you google 8 piece crazy quilt patterns, there are several pictured. Hope this helps ;-)...See MoreFriday 10-22 Wandering Stitchers
