glass barn door for shower
Comments (0)I am considering a glass barn door for a shower. I have been told it can be difficult to clean the glass where the door overlaps the glass wall. Has anyone had experience with this?...See MoreDo I need a custom Shower door
Comments (5)Do you need the half wall side piece as well? If not, google frameless glass bypass shower door. They come in multiple sizes and different manufacturers such as Kohler, Basco, etc. Home Depot and Lowes have them but I found cheaper pricing with free shipping and no tax at Build.com....See MoreWater coming under shower sliding barn door
Comments (9)All the showers I had before and the ones I remodeled had curbs. Doing a curb-less shower with a door complicates the management of water. I just built and would have designed things a bit differently. It didn't help that the shower door company my builder used this time were not detail oriented and doors ended up with too much space around them. I found decent sweeps that are containing most of the water ... except for the one my college aged son is using! At some point we will probably replace the shower doors, at our cost, but still have things that need to be finished first. Unfortunately there are lots of people involved ... architect, designer, builder, tile installer, shower door installer ... and they are not involved in what the other is doing until it is too late to change anything. The only way this would get addressed ahead of time would be if you had a good designer who had experience with a similar shower and pointed out the potential issues with a certain design. I would just accept that the design didn't work out and pay for a new door. If that is the major error in your new build, then you are doing pretty well. If you build again, you won't make the same mistake again!...See MoreCustom black grid shower door
Comments (20)I try to be supportive of design inspirations on Houzz, even when I disagree with them but here's a few thoughts on the black grid shower door. I saw one for the first time about four or five years ago (had to be that long ago as it was pre-covid) at a Parade of Homes house. My thought was TARDIS! Where's Dr. Who? They were all the rage that year on the Parade in several high end houses ($3M & up pre-Covid, now $5M range) and I have never seen them in the two most recent Parades or in the $4M+ houses that are being built in my neighborhood. Wonder why? Don't know but there must be a reason why they weren't embraced. It's your house, do what you want but I personally think the black grids will detract from what you are doing with the tile, especially the ceiling and champagne bronze fixtures. All of your inspiration pics have chrome plumbing fixtures likely to not complete with the black grids. Your bath looks lovely and classy so far. Too much decor or too many statement pieces is worse than not enough. Know when to say when. Not a tile expert but I do see the lowest row of wall tile is not in place yet. Likely that will be done after the floor so the wall will overlap the floor tile....See More- 4 years ago
