I'll bet there's some funk in that chunk.

Got the FUNK!!!
Comments (28)I feel like I'm living in Funky town, lol. I have bad allergies and borderline asthma as well. I had a bad sinus and upper respirator infection and had the flu before that so I was just twice bogged down too soon together. Glad Katie didn't get sick as well. I don't know of anywhere around here with the H1N1 shots yet either. Lucy I still don't look much better but feel a little better. Was going to do some cleaning but hubby needs me at work. Would rather not get out in the rain but guess I will go....See MoreGardening Funk
Comments (31)FlowerLady, I hope you whispered that word "hurricanes"! Shh. Misti, I read your question about the Mall, so I got on my bike and took a couple of shots of it. Here's a close-up showing the Chokoloskee Mall sign...it even looks tongue-in-cheek..... The other end of the building is the post office. It's kind of a "time stood still" place. When I'm not too busy, I go there to pull weeds from the gardens and catch up on all the goings-on. Yes, the epi plants are growing out of the bike basket. They seem to be living quite happily on that birdcage; the ones in the bike look like someone plucked all the blooms off, but here's a pic from a different angle. This is around the side where they have an outside dining room. Since I have already high-jacked this thread *sorry!* I'm gonna show ya where I get to work this month, painting this orange house, so you can see that even though it's working in the HEAT, it's really, really cool! Here's a better shot of the Chokoloskee Bay...the view from my "office" window! No, this is NOT my house (wish it was) and I did NOT pick the color. So now I'm going out to play in the dirt in my container gardens and get a little sweaty. See ya - Susie...See MoreI'll see you at the bridge some day buddy.........
Comments (53)David, I'm so sad about the loss of Smokey. Also very sorry I took so long to see your post. I know there's a hole in your heart & your home. Smokey's not alone. All of the CF beloved pets plus my Blackjack are there to take care of Smokey. I lost Blackjack many years ago now; but there's not a day goes by that she doesn't pop into my mind at least once. /tricia...See MoreHow do you get out of a funk?
Comments (28)My son was going through a funk a few weeks ago. He's prone to depression, so we go over the basics: eating right, getting enough sleep and exercise. He is diligent about all of these. We also talked about the need to be social and engage with others. Then I told him, "You're OK. There's nothing wrong with you, you know. It's OK to be sad sometimes." I think we're so pro-happiness that we forget that sadness and melancholy are part of our emotional spectrum as humans, too. We panic and want to get rid of it right away, but, for me, that just gives it more fuel. Sometimes, when I treat my funk as "Meh... it happens. I'll get over it" I kinda take away its power. Of course, long, deep periods of this warrant more intervention. I'm not dismissing depression. But I have found for my son and me, that the ACT-type of acceptance therapy is very helpful....See Morestupidlazydog CT zone 5b/6a
