Being off centered makes it quite the challenge. I'm not a fan of the lattice either, but perhaps painting it a darker color may make it not stick out as much.

That lattice is hiding a multitude of sins in terms of placement on this house Follow Cor's recommendation and paint it darker to match the roof .............and the rest of the siding too.

What's going on inside that is keeping you from tearing the whole thing off of there?

I need to know why this os so huge compared to your house remove tha horrible lattice and then post pics.To me this is someone who had delusions of grandeur and oops failed.

That lattice is hideous. Just removing it will be an upgrade. After that . . . I've got nothing to add.

The off-centered door and window will keep you from centering a large outdoor light fixture. If you take off the lattice, you can put several recessed lights in the porch area to provide more light. Arrange the recessed lights evenly, not even with the door and window.

The lattice, as far as I can surmise, only serves as a sunscreen for the large window behind it and over the door. Beside the door and window is brick all the way to the top of the structure. No hidden surprises. It's just a big open space.

I don’t think the off centered door is so horrible it should be hidden...but I do think the brick color on the front facing part of the exterior emphasizes the proportions ...of the entrance....I would remove all the lattice and support system if possible ...once it is off...depending on if it is possible...paint the front facing brick to match the trim or the house

Thanks for all your ideas. I hadn't thought of painting the lattice but that might be a first rendition while I ponder other ideas. As I mentioned in my post, I think the lattice needs to come down. I can take care of the sun issues with a motorized window treatment on the large window. My original thought was to just leave it open and fill the right of the door with a large plant/tree and a hanging pendant of lights to provide a little balance.

ritasj, I think your idea of painting the front facing brick is a great idea to deemphasize the proportion of the entrance! If we leave the lattice up for now, would you paint the brick white like the trim or the color of the siding?

If that is the only brick, it might look better painted the same color as the siding.

Plus it will go with the door and window trim and contrast better with the brick that is left on the interior......

Also to tie it in .... the one inside return of the column may look better as well...rather than just the front facing side ..it will register as a column better this way and make more sense

I never suggest painting brick, but in your case I am changing my mind.

I would paint the brick on the front of the porch to match the siding. I would leave the interior brick alone.

I would widen the stairs to be full width of the entry,, hang a base Music of the Spheres wind chime (90" tall - perfectly pitched sound) and a small bench on the non door side.

This last one suggests that wrapping the columns instead of painting them would work also..tho’ it would be less effective if you cannot make it look like the covering material is all one piece on length
