80's house - Please help identify style(s)
Comments (26)I was thinking about iron - and my wife like the "chanel staircase" look, but I'm afraid it's too decorative for my taste, and also as kswl said, it might be out of style soon. I'd like something a little more timeless. Kswl, thanks for all of your comments - the only real marble is the floor of the entryway, everything else is painted on, thank god. Lazygardens, that was hilarious - and some great ideas. Do you happen to know of a nice example of the california beach house feel? It sounds intriguing. And suer0 - my wife says the first thing she wants me to do after closing is tear down the mirrors - and I couldn't agree more. Yikes! I will absolutely keep you all updated as I go - all of your comments so far have been extremely valuable. Our closing is on Feb 16th. Thanks!...See MorePlease Help Identify Style of this Home?
Comments (37)When you look at it for the first time looks like a one story ranch house. the way the garage is build it gives a contemporary look, but if this house had a second floor would look much better. Comments (17)Thank you all for responding. Your comments will point me in the right direction and the 50’s – 60’s era sounds right. The furniture is a hand-me-down set which we never really liked.* We finally bought new furniture and now need to get rid of this set. If we can’t find a taker I plan to list it on Facebook Marketplace, but wanted to be accurate in my description. * Hubby bought his first home in the mid-80’s. This set belonged to the previous owners, who were elderly. To KW: The finish is shiny and does not appear to be painted. General FYI: I cannot find any markings or manufacturer name. There are some numbers stenciled on the backs of a couple of pieces, but no specific name....See MoreHelp identify age/style of table?
Comments (10)I have a bedroom suite in the Waterfall style and when I remodeled I kept the armoire and the bureau and converted the vanity into two night stands. It cost me quite a bit to have it refinished and portions of the veneer decorative elements redone and I am quite sure I could have gotten a good quality bedroom set for less. But I liked it as much as anything I could buy new so it was worth it to me to spend the money even though it didn't make absolute economic sense. I have no qualms about refinishing it in terms of destroying potential value since its value is purely in terms of it being a functional and - at least to me - aesthetic bedroom suite. I got rid of lots of very good furniture when I remodeled - some of it equivalent to OP's in that it was great Victorian era stuff. But it didn't work for me anymore so it was time to release it to the universe. None of it was wildly valuable in today's marketplace and so I was thrilled that my friend's brother took it all away as he lives in a large house and needed furniture. I knew I wasn't going to find any of that stuff on America's Road Show as a rare treasure and I was happier giving it away to someone who could use it versus trying to get a few hundred dollars....See MoreHome Interiors with Ease
