Improve street appeal of my home

I have a Californian bungalow and I want to make beautiful and elegant. what suggestions would you make?

my initial thought are,

1. to replace the big three window panes to casement windows , similar to the one on the left hand side of the home.

2. To add window boxes

What should I do with the 1970’s balcony extensions on the right hand side? I really don’t like the modern look and was hoping to make it more traditional, more aligned to a bungalow.

Also, what kind of windows would you suggest in the front three glass panes. Any other suggestions are much welcomed.

I would paint the beige and dark gray sections the same color as the stucco. Remove the hedges and work on the grass. You could also paint the brown trim on the balcony roof to the stucco color to make it less obvious

Casements would be a great idea to bring those "big 3" down to scale.

I think a simpler color palette would be much more suited to what you're going for. How about just 2 colors? The house one color and the trim another? Paint the "flat" areas under the eves the same color as the stucco (that dark area under the left windows, too). Then paint all the dark brown areas the same color as the "raised" decorative pieces AKA trim (a lighter color than the stucco). Is that dark thing under the left windows something that can be removed? .

The shrub looks healthy. How about trimming it to about half it's current height and taking a little off the sides? You'd still have some established greenery, and more of your home would be visible. It would even out the proportions and look great!

You have a great house. I love your front porch. New landscaping will add tremendous curb appeal. Right now the big bushes in front of your home don't say "Welcome Home" they look more like a barrier. Dig Doug has posted a more modern landscaping design. You can also meet with a local landscape designer to work out a plan that you can implement over time. I would remove all the shutters. Your windows are too large for those size shutters especially the picture window to the left of the front door. But even the double windows are too large for those small shutters. I agree with a lighter/brighter front door - you choose the color. Container planting flanking the garage would soften and green up the space. It looks like you may have a space in front of the house to the left of the stairs from the street that is flat. Consider a firepit/chairs or courtyard garden with container planting to make it seem like an inviting place to go. That would also improve your view from the front room's window.

Shutters should appear to be operable, so they would need to be as wide as the window... so if closed, they would cover the window. So no shutters on your house. I agree with taking out the boxwood that have been butchered. If you take the bed all the way to the sidewalk, you need a pocket bed on the left side. Yes to learn more about pruning the Crepe Myrtle. Ever heard of Crepe Murder? It's a thing. LOL Honestly you don't even have to prune them. We had several over 30ft tall at our last house, but you don't want one too tall right next to the house. Having lived in the South all my life, I don't have a problem with the grass since we get rain. No idea where you live, but the grass looks healthy. Unless you want to spend every weekend gardening, or hire a gardener, I would not go to the extreme of removing the grass. If there room for a wooden bench on the front porch?

I agree the brick is fine but the shutters need to go. I actually think the current siding color with the roof and brick is nice. Garage door should be the same color to pull focus away from it. You want more focus at your front door/entry area. At some point you might think about a garage door with windows across the top. That can add interest and help break up the "wall." Larger light fixtures for the garage and front door would be nice. As gardengal suggested, beef up the posts and maybe the same for the window trim once the shutters are gone. Though this is an entirely different house, it gives you an idea of how the sage green gardengal mentioned could work with brown brick (or stone, in this example).
