Quartz seam appearance

HI, I think these are okay based on other posts I've seen (I was disappointed they don't use the electric grips to get the tightest possible seam) but just wanted to get some feedback. The first photo is the best seam.

Comments (7)I've been googling madly about silicone and this is what I've found. They are not all created equal and some of the cheap ones attract dirt. I think that's what's happened here. In defense of the fabricator, I think they haven't installed much white quartz and I don't think you'd notice the grimy looking silicone on granite. Also, I wonder whether they did an inadequate job of cleaning the surface before they applied the silicone. Maybe it looks dirty because there's some dirt in there? Do I have any recourse here? Should the fabricator help me out? It doesn't seem reasonable that 3 months out, the joint looks bad. I think at the very least, I should call the fabricator who installed my quartz and let them know that they need to use a higher quality silicone for white quartz installations. How do I find out which silicone is best when I replace the existing caulk? I'm worried about the silicone that's down in the joint that I won't be able to reach. I think they put a bead of silicone on the edge of the counter near the wall and then put the backsplash piece on top. That silicone will be impossible to get out. If I cover it with white silicone, will it look OK? Is white silicone opaque? I'm upset about this because one of the big issues I had with my old kitchen was that no matter how clean I kept it, it never looked clean (thanks to the 1970s color scheme). Comments (10)Chris: Fabricators are promised by manufacturers to get 120" out of standard quartz slabs, but can often sneak another inch or so out. Each slab is different. If they promised no seams, that's what they should have delivered; they know how big the slabs and your cabinets are. Fortunately your seam is large enough to saw apart with a Japanese pull saw: It is also good that the sides of the seamed pieces appear parallel. This one wouldn't be a difficult do-over. They tried to do a wider particulate-matched seam instead of a tight color-matched one. That works for me for granite that doesn't fit very well, but this should pull together nicely. It appears they did a small finished return end at your wall, like you would do for a slide-in range opening. Somebody didn't check the print or template. It won't be nearly as conspicuous after it's caulked. Tell them you'll live with it if they redo the seam; it makes you appear reasonable....See MoreSeam or no seam quartz countertop

Comments (7)This was installed a year ago. 😩 And yes i have gone as far up the chain as they will allow me at lowes. Meaning they will not give me the VP's phone number. I talked to the director at corporate for this department, who oversees countertops. I had to fight hard for him to meet me half way on other issues like the countertops chipping. He told me they had been used for several months and that would i expect to get a refund or help to make it look new if i bought a new car and drove it for a few months. I am not exaggerating. Its so sad. And we saved up for a ling time. And do not have much money. So we cant do it again. Lowes has said they are not liable, that i need to take it up with installer. But i tried to explain thats why i went to lowes so They would handle it for me. They get a cut to be the middle man!...See Morecherylbirth

4 years agoTo be clear, I didn't say I was unhappy with the seams (other than the place where the installer ground out the corner), I said I thought they were okay and was looking for feedback. I have never had quartz countertops before and this was a huge investment so I wanted to make sure it was done correctly, which I know now that it was. I'm attaching a photo of what it looked like before.
