Incredibly bad designed Grohe kitchen faucet. Help!
Comments (15)Just a few comments on Grohe Customer Service, if that is what you want to call it! I purchased a Brand New Kitchen display in 2009. Included in the Kitchen was a Grohe Bridgeport Bridge Faucet in Antique Bronze. Their MSRP on this faucet is $1826.00 !!! Quite a Hefty price tag for a Kitchen Faucet, it should actually wash your dishes for you! Anyway, this morning the spout protruding from the vertical column snapped off at the threads. I extracted the broken nipple (this piece is threaded in) and ran down to the local Plumbing Supply and Service Business to see if they could just rethread the end of the spout so I could screw it back in and be on my Merry Way, THEY LAUGHED!!! The thread was nothing they had ever seen before. They told me to call Grohe Customer Service and see if I could obtain a replacement. After waiting 20 minutes on hold a male Customer Service Rep answered. I explained my situation to him, he asked if I had the original receipt? To this I replied no, I did not have the receipt because it was in a package deal on the new kitchen I bought. Guess what? To Bad! No receipt, no warranty, no part! I guess "Lifetime" warranty should actually be CONDITIONAL LIFETIME WARRANTY, If we feel like it! I Hung up! After thinking about it for a bit I decided I gave up way to easy and called back. This time a young woman answered, after the usual 20 minute wait. I again explained the situation hoping to find a more amenable ear. NOT SO! She was Snappy and short with me. I was told the model was discontinued last year and this part was no longer available and her online search revealed not a one to be had. She did however provide me with the name and contact info for a local business that could probably fix me up with what I needed. So let me see if I got this straight. A World Class Company that praises themselves on the HIGH QUALITY of their fixtures and their "Lifetime" Warranty discontinues an $1800 fixture and fails to ensure they have an adequate inventory of replacement parts for said product, Employs "Customer Service" Reps with Bad Attitudes and steers their customers that bought their product believing they had a "Lifetime Warranty" to a local fabrication shop to cover their asses? Whiskey tango Foxtrot! Does anyone other than myself see a problem with this?...See MorePlease help me fix bad sink window design decision!
Comments (30)Even if you do decide to do the basket weave there, I think you will still find it lacking unless you have a window stool as that is what is really throwing it off for me. To fix it since you have very little space due to the crank, you might be able to build a faux window stool, but you'll need to remove the trim around the window no matter what as it is common for it to rest on the window stool. You could use a think piece of plywood, maybe 1/8-1/4" - not sure how much space you have and then rest it on a molding strip that would form the lip of of the molding and then trim the edge out in a think strip of molding. Going to show you a picture of how generally the pieces are put together. A true stool is at a minimum 1/2" thick when it rests on the window frame and I don't think you have the space. I think you can get the trim strip to adhere to the marble with construction adhesive, but realize this will ruin the marble in that area. You will need to remove and redo the casing on the sides though for the right propertions so it looks correct resting on the stool. I don't think you need to add an apron under the faux stool as the picture has it. That is often forgone when using tile or other materials as a backsplash....See MoreWindow for gable can't be made--help!
Comments (5)Whose idea was it to have Parrett manufacture the Oval Windows? At this point I would ask if the Signature Products division of Marvin can make it for you. It may take 12 weeks but they should be able to make one for you. The grille may be the issue with them as well as I have no idea what type of Grille your speaking of be it SDL or a Removeable Grille with spokes only or a surround which may limit the options (same as Parrett)....See MorePlease Help with Gable remodel ideas
