Hi ESS, consider using 1x6 T&G cedar vertically to match your porch post. Paint the address numbers black or change to contemporary aluminum or stainless steel numbers. Remove the shutters and paint the stem wall a dark gray. Lastly pant your front door a BOLD COLOR. And for a little more curb appeal, maybe straighten the entry sidewalk, pave the driveway and up date landscaping. I do like all your other selections. Best of luck on your exciting project. What is underneath the current siding? Why do you want a black chimney. Seems like brick would go better with cedar.

hey emmarene, there is nothing under the siding currently, expect tyvek. we had a hail storm last summer and need to replace some areas so we are going for an updated look. we love the contrast of black with the warmth of cedar. and we hope it cools the color of the current siding that will left over a bit. it's an off white but has a yellow undertone (gross) so we are going for contrast to bring it to this decade. brick doesn't hold up well in our climate, weather changes are drastic here. I do like certain brick but we are keeping the cost as minimal as possible

I would go with horizontal cedar
