Blending colors in a Great Room? Help!
Comments (5)Hi Tim, Thanks so much for your response! I've done that too, believe me, lol, but I just can't see sitting in a room with blue on one side and orange on the other, well, maybe in a rec room, but not a kitchen/family/dining area IMO, plus I think it would look awful where the two colors would inevitably have to meet. BTW, for anyone reading this thread, the color on the website doesn't look a thing like it does in person painted on a wall. It looks kind of clay-brown on the site, but it's actually a warm but bright orange/red. I really didn't want a boring neutral all over the living space, but I guess that's what I'll need to do because I really love the Medit. Sun color....See MoreWood stove placement in great room? Comments (16)I watch a lot of "Escape to the Country" on YouTube, and I love the way the huge ol wood-burning fireplaces have been turned into homes for stoves, either wood-burning or multi-fuel ones. I love the way that huge fireplace is the focal point for the LR and also protects other objects (and people/pets/children!) from getting too close to the stove and being burned. I would not want a free-standing stove at all....See MoreTwo-Story Wall Great Room Decor Help
Comments (17)I dig the banners Groveraxle posted, they're 8ft high! That's a statement worth making. I advise against hanging most art, like your own examples, so far above eye level. Just ignore the wall above and concentrate on finding items that are a nice proportion to the length of the wall/area. We humans tend to concentrate on what's in our line of sight. Too high or low, eh. For the most part, art should hang at a level that's easy to appreciate the work. The center is usually about 60" from the floor. Otherwise, it's hung in close relationship to piece of furniture, at a comfortable view level. So go lower when viewing it from a seated position. Beth showed examples of maximizing the horizontal plane. That's what I would recommend, as well....See MoreGreat room design help
